For a light look which you obviously wanted I think it’s nice. You cooled off the floor and counters so they do not stand out and left a little play between the white shades of cabs and wall difference which is good. I think it’s much better than the same matching white everywhere and if that were the result the counter and floor would remain a problem. It’s All very easy on the eyes and these kinds of blending old w new and some things not changed is never going to be perfection.

@herbflavor Ty, my issue is when Agreable grey looks more beige it goes but on many walls it looks almost dark violet. I wanted Stark white cabinets but was afraid they won’t go with very warm granite and backsplash. Like here on the skinny wall it’s turning purple.

You will have times of day issues ...corners that have shadows ....angles where light streams in or not .....which will all affect shadings. I think you know , but remember , it’s an interior kitchen , no windows and these spaces do not always garner heavy lookinkg , visuals , and so on , because seating and people congregate where there are windows and more room for mingling etc . You are analyzing and staring at it now but in a bit of time that’s not going to be happening.

Makes sense. In my head I have a vision of sleek modern crisp white kitchen with light walls, white subway tile and white quartz countertop but this house will never be that 🤣

Remove or replace the backsplash .. more white and stain the grout on your floor with a mid white/warm white.
Definitely do something different with the hardware!

Does your room face north? A lot of grays and whites look purple to me in that indirect light.

it doesn’t look bad as is though. If it drives you crazy look at some warmer whites or greiges in your light. But I think it’s fine now.

Previous owners did everything very busy - busy granite, busy floor, busy backsplash. It’s all too much. So at Least I wanted walls and cabinets not brown. It still looks like a hot mess.

like in this pic, can see how busy granite is with floor...and cabi appears yellow next to stark pantry door and wall color doesn’t seem to go together. But i am driving myself crazy anxious too.

@roccouple Surprisingly East but not much light as all shaded. And yes I agree with warmer Greige. I wanted nothing to do with beige or brown and loved grey but it might not be best for this house. I am happy I picked at least Agreable grey which is warm vs cold grey. But maybe go even warmer.

It’s funny because I have busy granite that’s similar to yours, antique white cabinets (which I’m dying to paint alabaster), and latte walls (which are dreadful). My husband just gave me the okay to repaint our walls and I’ve been looking at light gray/green or griege colors. After seeing your kitchen, I think it will work.
I don’t think your walls are dark... your space is so much brighter than your before pics. You could always paint your door alabaster if it’s driving you crazy, but I’m sure most people won’t notice it.
I agree the flooring is a bit too busy, but it’s nothing a runner can’t cover up!
I think you’re off to a great start! A lot of people would love your kitchen.

Would it make sense to paint just kitchen walls alabaster same as cabinets and leave the rest of the living Agreable or would that be too weird,? I like Agreable in the living room with dark grey couch and grey rug and hardwood but kitchen is throwing me off with all busy finishes. Or light Agreable gray by 50% and paint walls I dont like how it shows color with lighter version and walls I like leave as is?

It was my big issue with picking wall color- since space has 3 rooms in one, lots of shades, nooks and crannies., every color looked different on every wall. I really Would like a color on 1 wall but hate it on another. What do ppl do - adjust formula for every wall?

Also what backsplash do I do? More more cream, white, grey? Etc. i want solid color no patterns. Here are pics in morning light with blinds open on the other side but no artificial light turned on in the kitchen

The paint doesn’t look bad. I’m sure alabaster walls would look great, but I don’t think it’s necessary. I think changing your backsplash to an off white subway tile that matches your cabinets would make the biggest difference. It’ll be more calming to the eyes and eliminate one more busy pattern from your kitchen. I think your current backsplash clashes with your wall and is probably what’s driving you crazy.

Of course I’m not a pro though. It’ll be interesting to see what the pros think.

If you replace your backsplash, remote the 4 inch slab of granite.

@AC LB Do you know ifcontractor can remove just the 4 inch slab without having to rip the ent countertops?

Yes, they can easily remove it without damaging the counters. You can call a local store who installs backsplashes or sells granite and I’m sure they can help you with the details.
