Decorated Front door and entrance for Christmas
Comments (8)Below is a link to my blog where I posted about this. I completely changed my game plan this year. No stringer lights on house gutters & shrubs this year. Not dealing with it. Just simple wreaths on the windows. Most important: I got a new front door this year, so I have a nice new focal point to work with...and not that old bright white, boring, metal utility door which did nothing for the house. You can now see the front door and visitors have a visible entry point to the house. Soooo.... I LOOOOVE the vintage sled I got this year...and I plan to continue using it in the future. Another thing...the shrubs in the front will get yanked next spring, so I wanted to work with base Xmas decor which doesn't include the shrubs. I have some tweaking ideas for future years: I think a few spartan silver balls added to the little lit trees might add more interest. I think maybe to add a simple swag/garland/something to the upper door header, but nothing distracting from what's going on below. I didn't want to do anything on the door this year. It's too new to me to even want to touch it or try anything...however, I don't really think the door needs anything on it...even a wreath. I'm still thinking that through for future. Anyway, this is my base foundation I'll keep using, and tweak over the years as I get ideas. Comments (34)The table in the front hall looks great! Yes, I would use 2 ottomans. Are these colors that you are using in other rooms? The front hall sets the tone and those colors should be use in some measure throughout the home. You could put art in the tall space if you want. I don't think a mirror would be an issue with our central vac, though....See MoreNeed help with front entry/porch decor
Comments (16)First, I wouldn’t do sod in this front yard. Too hard to maintain. I would put shrubs that match in color to your brick up high. Then on the slope low maintenance low profile junipers and moss holders for easy to care for greenery. I tried painting your bay window trim black but you can use your imagination. Paint all trim black. I put larger black modern exterior light fixtures for more light and interest. I added black pots with greenery to each side of front stoop. I would also like a pair of black slatted benches facing each other to flank entry doors. Couldn’t pull that off in this mock up. This will be showstopper home with not too much effort....See MoreHow to decorate front entryway
Comments (5)You have an outlet for a lamp on the right (longer) wall facing your closed door. That is where I would put the console. Measure from beyond the swing of your front door. You don’t want your door slamming into your console. Hang art above it and place a nice lamp there. If you feel a bench is necessary, place it on the shorter wall across from the console, or centered on that wall....See Morelittlebug zone 5 Missouri
