How to decorate front entryway

Front entryway in patio home. I want function, but not crowded. size of the area is 6 ft x 11 ft. closet at end. any suggestions welcomed. Going for a transitional look. thanks

There is not much space for anything in that entry I would probably do ahuge piece of art on the larger wall get a fabulous light fixture and paint the opposite wall a color form the art .Not sure of the size of the space to the left of the door maybe a really shallow console could work with a mirror above to reflect the new art.This is 11.5 " deep would that fit there

What do you need there. Bench? Do you like a mirror in a front hallway? Place to drop keys? Does everything go in the closet or do you need a place for muddy boots, backpacks etc?

Below is a link to my blog where I posted about this. I completely changed my game plan this year. No stringer lights on house gutters & shrubs this year. Not dealing with it. Just simple wreaths on the windows. Most important: I got a new front door this year, so I have a nice new focal point to work with...and not that old bright white, boring, metal utility door which did nothing for the house. You can now see the front door and visitors have a visible entry point to the house. Soooo.... I LOOOOVE the vintage sled I got this year...and I plan to continue using it in the future. Another thing...the shrubs in the front will get yanked next spring, so I wanted to work with base Xmas decor which doesn't include the shrubs. I have some tweaking ideas for future years: I think a few spartan silver balls added to the little lit trees might add more interest. I think maybe to add a simple swag/garland/something to the upper door header, but nothing distracting from what's going on below. I didn't want to do anything on the door this year. It's too new to me to even want to touch it or try anything...however, I don't really think the door needs anything on it...even a wreath. I'm still thinking that through for future. Maybe a outdoor rug and some metal art on the back wall. Paint a turquoise blue or some brighter color. Or a wreath even if you like them. Like this:https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/three-posts-4-piece-wall-decor-set-thps3885.html Even if you find something thats more for indoor use a coat of Rust-Oleum spray paint would give it enough protect in that covered area. I would definitely paint the entryway white or some other much lighter color to brighten it up. A colorful pot with dried flowers or pine cutting for fall/winter. You can paint a red clay pot with any acylic indoor or outdoor paint. It weather's off a bit over time and looks "rustic".

I have decided for now to keep my sofa table. My art I had picked out 40 x 40 Was way too big for the wall so I took it back and got a different one that is 25 x 25. I will be looking for some round balls that are light blue gray and cream to go in the glass bowl. These are so I just found in the closet.

I would have a console or cabinet on the left and art and plant on the right. One large artwork, or a couple of more narrow ones.

Everything but the above floral prints and plant are from Pottery Barn, just for ease of mock-up purposes. The cabinet:

Definitely a lamp on the entry table — the light would look lovely from outside the window.

You have an outlet for a lamp on the right (longer) wall facing your closed door. That is where I would put the console. Measure from beyond the swing of your front door. You don’t want your door slamming into your console. Hang art above it and place a nice lamp there. If you feel a bench is necessary, place it on the shorter wall across from the console, or centered on that wall.

Pull the rug out to float in front of the closet, turned the opposite direction. Get a smaller rug in a variation of that style for in front of the door. Here are some variations on a slim floating shelf, which is about all you have room for. If you use the door daily, you might appreciate a mirror to check yourself in coming and going. If not, art is always the best option, IMO.
