Could you tell us about your family and how you use (or plan to use) the Kitchen space?

Could you also post a sketch of the entire floor? It doesn't have to be to-scale, but it should accurately show how the rooms all relate to each other. This will help us see how traffic flows in, around, and through the Kitchen and the rest of the home.

Is there a separate Dining Room? (I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd ask).

Is the entire left wall an interior wall?

Where is the driveway? Along the "top" of the house?

Could the side doorway be moved over to the far right? It would still be on the side of the house.

How high off the floor are the windows on the far right window wall? If less than 36", could they be raised to 36" off the floor? If so, you could move the Kitchen to that side of the room. I would still suggest moving the side door -- this time, as far to the left as possible.

What are the 5-1/2" and 41-1/2" measurements mean on that far right window wall?

That door, right now is what's making it difficult to come up with a functional layout. The stove/range should not be on a busy aisle like that.

Make an L using window wall and 111 inches on driveway wall. Sink under windows ... range and fridge along other wall. Get a drop leaf table and butt it against 96 in wall . Use a small square work cart in middle of floor space as extra landing and all purpose use. Then when you reclaim that 9.5 foot wall when weird things are gone use about half or 2/3 of it for shallow depth secondary use. Coffee , toaster , counter , open shelves etc. you want a full kitchen w table and walkways and exterior Entry /exit. You have to work that table situation and get it out of the way a bit . Smaller flexible cart and that shallow secondary zone is the key and get that L primary zone to hold the basics . You want lots of stuff in here ... it won’t be perfect but be more critical w each choice and you’ll get further. The table in the middle just won’t work but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a table.

Is there a possibility you can recess the fridge into the pantry/closet space?

@Buehl I added a quick drawing of the house layout. Correct there is no dining room. Yes, there is a driveway from the side of the house that ends on the street/ towards the top of the house. Thank you for the idea of moving the side entrance. Yes, the kitchen window is 28in from the ground but the only thing that we have a radiator that goes right below the window. The measurements are 5 1/2 deep 41 long 25 1/2 height from the ground which probably why we never thought of putting anything towards the window except for the kitchen table since they low and the radiator.

I agree that is why we thinking hard regarding the door.

@herbflavor Thank for the idea the issue with the windows it that it currently low 28 in low and a radiator is right below it. What Buehl suggested I would have to bring it up. On the table suggestion will definitely take that as I believe it is too big for the current space. Definitely will have gonna think of this option as you and Buehl suggest it and never thought of it before. Thank you.

@mama goose_gw zn6OH Yes that is what we originally thought and worst-case scenario we will do that option.

Would it work for you to remove the side door to the driveway, and instead install a door to the backyard at the end of the hallway where you currently have the linen closet? Do you Park in the driveway or in the garage? Where do you bring in groceries? Front or side entrance?

I've been thinking about this dilemma--you need a back door, but the one you have is only a few steps around the corner from the front door (17'?). If newideas' suggestion would work, you could plug a window into the existing back door header, and put a sink there. I think there would be space for the table, but I'm drawing a banquet, which would add extra storage in the benches.

You could have a shallow counter behind one of the benches, with shelves above for display, or cabinets for items which aren't used frequently. Bypass doors on the backrest on that wall would open to reveal more storage--similar to what you seen in RVs or campers. An upper cabinet above the DW would complete the shelves and provide storage for dishes. Part of the bench against the window wall could hold long, narrow, drawers (affectionately referred to as morgue drawers in GW archives) for easy access. The small cabinet to the right of the DW would be bench height, and could be a full-depth drawer, or you could use a morgue drawer there, too, with a shallow cabinet behind it. Tall cabinets on each side of the fridge would provide extra storage. If the fridge could be recessed into the wall behind, the tall cabinets could be added to make it look built in.

I put the sink slightly off-center in a larger cabinet, to give you a bit more hip space to the left, and centered the faucet on the window, to disguise the off-set.
