Tips for painting Interior 6-Panel Doors...please...
Comments (4)Molded door so no true floating panels, therefor caulking will not be necessary. I would select the same paint/finish for the doors as used for the jamb and trim. That is personal, for appearance, not a necessity. I use a semi-gloss enamel. Not familiar with the paint you reference. Make certain the surfaces are clean and free of any oil. Wash with Dirtex, or similar, if necessary. You might find that a foam roller will give you a smooth finish but you'll still need a brush for the 6-panel inside edges and the edges of the door itself. A good quality paint will self-level, just don't rework following application. Yes, personally I prefer to paint doors flat, resting on horses as I have a better chance of eliminating runs. I do two light coats a day apart, flip the door and do the reverse side. I remove the hinges and knobs/mechanism too - less trimming. I'm sure one of the pros can offer some techniques but I don't paint doors often so the above has served me well. Hope this helps, enjoy the new bathroom....See More6 panel or 2 panel arch top, woodgrain textured or smooth door?
Comments (1)The design of the doors would depend on the house design, for me. What kind of house is it, architecturally? What styles do you like? Traditional, modern, etc....See More6 panel or 2 panel arch top for door between garage and house?
Comments (5)What style is your house? What style are your furnishings? Are you asking about a 6-panel straight top vs. a 2-panel arch top, or are both arch tops? Whatever you choose should be the same as the others you will be installing later. Go with a smooth texture for interior doors. unless you are going for a rustic look....See MoreNew doors - 6 panel or 2 panel? Also knobs/levers Q
Comments (34)Agree with Beverly to pick door based on the architecture of your house. Re door hardware------dont buy anything until you have actually felt it in your own hand. Many lever type handles are too thin and feel cheap, or arent shaped correctly and feel awkward in your hand. A really nice handle, whether a lever type or doorknob, will feel great and be easy to use. We have seven exterior doors and have replaced the hardware on six and i can honestly say it is a pleasure to open and close those doors with a solid, well designed and substantial handle. We left the front door alone because the doorknob is integrated into a larger brass plate, very pricey (here from previous owner) and looks fantastic when the brass is polished, but it does not feel as satisfying as opening the other doors, so its not just about money....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
