Whats blooming 7/8/10
Comments (9)So, so pretty. I love the irish eyes too. Want a ton of reseeding alyssum - you need to plant the white kind! It reseds like crazy and I just leave it filling spaces (and keeping out weeds) until I have something to plant in the space. Then I have no problem yanking it out as I have so much of it. The "other then whites" for me are pretty (especially Royal carpet in the early spring) but not as lush and spreading. Your pictures are wonderful, always. Must be a combination of your talents and that wonderful clear Maine light. Sure is gorgeous up there. We use to camp along the coast every summer until the kids insisted we must go somewhere the ocean temps are a bit warmer for swimming! Sissies - I loved it. Nancy...See MoreFrost/Freeze 10/7 - 10/19
Comments (6)Just put something to hold the plastic off the plant like a TP made out of long posts or something depending on how tall it is and yes christmas lights put off a little extra heat as well. Make sure you water well before the freeze. You basically want to cover the plant to keep the cold wind from it and keep the frost from settling on it. I like breathable fabric if possible but make sure you undcover it during the day as long as its above freezing....See MoreWednesday 7-7-10 Only 3 today
Comments (9)Thank you all so much. Actually, I had a lot more than three blooming, but I have posted all of them before, and I decided that these three just needed to be posted. Debra, Jazz After Five has been such a gorgeous bloomer. So many days it has done just like today, begged to be photographed with so many blooms. You need it. You deserve it. It deserves to be grown by you. Chris and Ellie, It has bloomed so much, and every bloom seems to be perfect. The thrips haven't fazed it. That is a really good trait for a bloom to have, especially as bad as the thrips have been this year. Come on, You know you need it too. Rita, you don't need any Cinco de Mayo, do you? It has multiplied so much, I would be glad to send some of it to you....See MoreFridays Blooms 7/10
Comments (11)Nice group David. SCREEN PATTERN has a nice pattern showing. Carolina Cool Down looks a lot like ( but not exactly) Ribbit Ribbit which I grow here. I noticed that similarity when Debra has posted here photos of CCD. We had a couple of hours of light rain after midnight and suppose to get more later today. I don't count on it but at least the temp has dropped a bit today. Stay cool and hope for more rain. Julia...See Morenat4b
