Yes. For a few years I even reminded people here to get a booster. The nurse gave me a hard time but I told I was a gardener who digs around in dirt, handles manure and I often have cuts on my hands. So I got it. I haven't had a booster in a couple of years.

People who garden around prickly plants like roses really need to be careful. Someone unaware there's a thorn buried in their skin can get in real trouble.

A few long soaks in warm water will often bring a thorn to the skin's surface then it can be tweezered out.

Is it still complicated to get in for primary care where you live rouge? Because we're expecting a new grandchild every one who'll be in contact with the baby needs the DTAP vaccine . I called ahead he pharmacy to to make sure they had the vaccine, and was in and out in 15 minutes. My husband saw his primary the next day. We're in MA and experienced the worst of the worst, but the primary care system seems to be coming back to life?

I can’t remember when I had my last booster shot but I’m probably due soon. But I won’t be making a trip to the doctor just for that this year! :-) However, the next time I do go to our family doctor I will check to see when the shot is due....

'woody' during these "down time" for MDs they are more than willing to take phone calls. I called this morning to confirm the date of my last vaccination and was promptly told the date. If you did similarly you could then know if all is good or how "past due" you are.

Rouge - I remember asking a couple of years ago and I didn’t need it then. DH is expecting a call this week re some test results, and I’ll get him to ask for me when he’s talking to the doctor. But, even if it’s due, I probably wouldn’t bother going in now to get it...!

Yes. Had a TD booster last year after I managed to step on a toothpick that required medical intervention to remove from the bottom of my foot. It was less than 10 years since my previous but different location and doc and I couldn't remember the precise date.

I had a problem in the garden and decided to check the Tetanus and got a booster, but, now I have no idea how long ago that was. Like Woody, I'll check with my doctor to see if I am due, but not going to make a special trip to get one this year.

Booster is good for 10 years. If you get it through your PCP or hospital system (e.g. ER) a auto-flag is likely set within the electronic medical record. If not or paper charts, well then you do have to remember it yourself :0/

I get one every ten years, and my doctor, God bless her, keeps track of it. There is just too much random non-plant stuff in the dirt here.

Gosh, I have no idea when I last had a tetanus shot! Waaaay more than 10 years I'm sure.

But let me just mention about thorns and splinters that are hard to remove: Goldenseal is an amazing "drawer" of such items. It's a liquid so I drip in on the spot, then drip some on the gauze of a band aid and put on the band aid, repeating as necessary. It does stain badly, so don't get it on good clothing or bedding. But it really works.
