bathroom sink not draining completely when drain trim replaced

... Too much putty?

I just replaced the drain trim in the bathroom sink and now it's not draining all the way. I'm guessing it must be because I used too much putty and so the trim is a high point (but really, it doesn't look like it to me🤷🏻‍♀️).
Anyway, before I go and take it all apart and redo, might there be another reason? I think it's a Kohler sink and I used a Home Depot glacier bay trim kit.
