IMO a good house design is one that works with the lot, the interior function and the exterior .IMO that design is all about frontage and impressing others I think you could simplify the front facade to match the rest and then it would at least be cohesive. What you have is like people who put stone veneer on the front of the house and not on the sides or back, who do they think they are impressing? In your case the front and the back look like 2 different houses and I have no idea of how the exterior relates to the interior.

Thank you for the response Patricia! I actually forgot to mention that I had previously told the architects to change the roof and window trim on the front of the house to match the rest. I’ll provide the updated rendering of the front shortly. Thank you for bringing that up!

I agree front should match rest. Otherwise it’s fine and as you’ve posted many times before and indicated the home is not in North America I’m assuming it fits in with local architecture in your area.

As has been indicated, the front of the house detracts from the modern aesthetic of the rest of your home. Even as you change the front facade, be sure to modernize the wrought iron fence and gate at the entry so that it flows together. Your home is quite beautiful from the outside! I hope that we will see its interior one day!

The back and sides of the house are rather unattractive- they look like an institution in that they are unadorned and rectilinear and don't appear creative or tailored to specific needs.

Are they?

There is one large terraced balcony on the second floor.

What about the other balconies- how deep are they?

Are they deep enough for chairs and a table, and for people to walk?

The downstairs patio seating area seems cramped.

I would rather see a shade structure built onto the house around the corner from there, some sort of pergola, perhaps with a retractable awning in addition.

That would give you a much larger seating area adjacent to the house, (in the area shown in your third photo) a seating area that could accommodate both family and guests.

It is great that the windows in the front are arched, but the rest of the house is very boringly rectilinear.

It needs more shape and life and interest.

I would suggest a water feature in view of both the outer seating area and the main indoor group seating area and if possible, the master bedroom.

Some suggestions would be a rill, a fountain, and some sort of running water.

A great place for running water would be along the outer edge of the outdoor stairway, and instead of just planting grasses there, plant fragrant herbs such as mint and herbs for cooking things to attract butterflies and birds.

I am wondering about the big stone walls on the back of the house, yet there seems to be a concrete or brick floor past the wall.

Why do you have that high wall? It seems to close in the house.

It would be nice if your house seemed more integrated with the land next to it.

Do you have land next to and behind the house?

What is that to the right of the window to the right of the front door? Is that another door? Why is that there? If you want another door, perhaps for your domestic help, it is better placed on the side of the house or in the back.

Why are we seeing those automobiles? Do you not have a garage door?

In some parts of the world, not having a proper enclosed garage with a closing garage door that can be locked is an invitation to having your automobiles and tools stolen, so that is something for you to think about.

Those walls are most likely there to mark the property line and function as retaining walls for the sloped walkout lot.

The 3D designs are very misleading because they make it look like the house sits on some isolated piece of land! The reality is that most likely this lot is in an urban congested area!

It looks like a school building, IMO. I realize the aesthetic is different elsewhere, but it just gives the impression of a massive institution. Do you love the interior layout?

It has to much concrete & squareness. Stairs need lighting. There's not enough; appears like a Insurance building. It needs grass, softness.

Aside from getting the front to match the style of the rest of the home, I would question the congestion of windows to the centre of the rear elevation. They draw the eye inward, making the house look smaller than it is. Even with large expanses of blank wall, accent windows at the edges stretch the facade.

That front door and gate are found in many faux-mediterranean mcmansions. Did you happen to take a trip to Los Angeles and drive around Beverly Hills? ;-)

The other posters here have said that this house is in the Middle East.

In that case it will be quite warm and it matters how the house is situated.

Which way is north south, east and west?

You would like more shade and less heat on the part of the house facing south and west, and there are a number of ways that can be accomplished.

Your previous design was more consistent.

The other 3 sides are consistent and the front looks like a mask, it does not belong.

I'd get rid of the arches up front, the foyer chandelier (shows poor taste), the ornate door and fence (go with a more contemporary abstraction in a pattern that is typical of the middle east, something that adds texture or some movement, but is not busy. Add a water feature. that stairway on the left, the one with the planters, is way overdone.

I like the crown molding of your bottom picture better, for the front of the house.

The front porch opening will look nicer with the same recessed fascia you used in some other places (below the beams), but do that on the 3 sides of the opening. You could add a fluted frieze, something clean, but will make the entry stand out.

I like the arches, that is a common Middle Eastern design, and if they project out from the windows (that is if the windows are recessed) somewhat that can provide relief from the heat and sun. That is why I asked the north-south east-west orientation.

If you look at classical architectural design in India and the Middle East, a lot of the features are designed to avert the heat and sun.

It may look good or "conform" depending on where it is built.

As it sits now, the front & 2nd rendering look like different homes. Of the 2, I prefer the front rendering style better than the 2nd photo. I know everyone's tastes are different though! The 2nd one just reminds me of a commercial style office building. I'm in the middle of Texas though so this is not a style I see often where I live currently.
