When my oven was bought back I dealt with the same dealer so this may be apples and oranges for you. The company accepted a credit from the dealer who credited me. The company came and removed the oven and hauled it away (no charge though I did pay delivery originally with contractor installing during construction). I was credited by dealer for price paid plus tax. I purchased another brand on same basis. I paid delivery on the replacement oven plus installation to make the new one fit. Didn't get into historical vs current pricing -- not sure that works. The first hurdle is getting them to take the defective product back. Once that happens it's dealing with rationalizing the full cost of replacement -- for me worth it to get an oven that worked really well and didn't have any further aggravation after 9 pointless service calls and 3 clock replacements. Looking forward, it has been 2 years with 0 issues and an excellent product. In most of these situations the purchaser is out of pocket substantially, which isn't fair. OTOH, there's a point at which it's the best that can be done in that situation and it's time to do it and move on. How much it's worth spending without feeling ripped off (which seems inevitable) or when you reach that point is really subjective. Think it's also more emotionally fraught during construction when you're looking ahead to big payments vs afterwards. Good luck!

I think a low boxwood hedge would look nice around your patio. It would frame it in and create a garden room of sorts. It will also give you year round greenery with low maintenance. We did that around our terrace and it looks nice. I don't know what variety we used but it's a low growing one that we keep around 24". You mentioned that you had small children in your fence post, and a hedge would keep them from running through a garden bed - shortest distance between 2 points being a straight line and all. If you went with boxwood, just be sure to plant to allow for growth so it doesn't grow to cover your bricks. It looks like your soil needs some amending with a good bedding mix before you plant anything there. Holes are needed for faucet, soap dispenser, instant hot water tap, dishwasher air gap. They are the best people to drill the holes and make sure the sink gets undermounted with a support brace. You or anyone could do it, but they are the best ones for this. They make sure the sink is supported first, and then they silicone where the sink rim meets the quartz. They won't connect the instant hot water heater and garbage disposer. They cannot do any drain plumbing. The next morning, you hand turn the slip joints on the sink drain yourself. This lets the sink and silicone set for a while and become more solid as a unit, which you bring the drain up to, instead of trying to connect it at the same time (which might cause someone to mistakenly push things around and skew the sink inside the opening so it ends up being slightly off-center or rotated.) Also, by having you do it (and not them) it simplifies responsibility problems. You are 100% involved in seeing that your drain plumbing is watertight and doesn't drip. You are the one who takes care of this first-hand or who hands over responsibility to someone else. They may want to see the sink, at their shop. They may want to see the sink manufacturer's template. Your sink opening can be smaller or larger than the template, as the template is only a guide. You are the one to say what you want; never let the template be the decider. You decide whether to round the corners of the sink opening more than the template shows. You decide how much overhang you want around the sink (and in front of the cabinets). When you have a cooktop opening cut, the Quartz manufacturer has written that the vendor should make sure the opening is made by drilling 1/2" holes at the four corners first, to round the corners a little bit instead of cutting four straight cuts which will meet at each corner in a sharp 90 degree edge (this generates a crack in the future). You as buyer can insist on this being written down in all documents that you will sign off on. I did this when my fabricator said that there was no need to round the corners, as "it never cracks." Better safe than sorry and why not follow instructions. hth
