how do i save my dying bamboo plant?

my bamboo stalks are shriveling up but only on 2 stalks. the third one seems to be fine. i have cut off the dying parts that were yellow in order to save what i have.i recently moved it because it was stuck in glued rocks before (from lowes) and at the bottom the two shriveling stalks do not have any roots at all. could that be the problem and is there anything i can do or are the two stalks done for?

Plant your lucky bamboo - a Dracaena and not an actual bamboo - in a pot filled with potting soil and start fertilizing it.

How to Revive a Dying Lucky Bamboo
1. Check Your Water Source and Stay Away from Chlorinated Water.
2. Keep a Consistent Temperature.
3. Maintain the cleanliness of the Bamboo bowl.
4. Avoid over- and under-watering.
5. Fertilize once or twice a year.
6. Remove any dying or dead leaves and stems.
7. Allow for Indirect Lighting.
8. Insects must be removed from the plant.

Dickie - when you quote someone directly, it's appropriate to give credit as due, lest someone think the advice yours and coming from your personal experience. Also, Ed wasn't talking about containerized plants - his advice was for plants planted out (as in in the landscape), so it's not applicable to container culture. DL - the plant is in trouble. It appears to have been over-watered or over-fertilized. The symptoms are often indistinguishable. If the symptoms showed up within a week or so of a fertilizer application, suspect that as the cause. If you can eliminate over-fertilizing as the probable cause, then look to over-watering. I suspect a water-retentive medium and an over-nurturing hand on the watering can. ;-) The plant will love a spot protected from midday sun. You could just bury the pot in the ground and hope it turns around, or you could repot. In either case, I think your facing a loss of the plant or a fairly long recovery, but it depends on how damaged the roots are. The BEST thing would be to inspect the roots, prune them back to sound tissue if you find them rotted, and plant out. Second best would be to repot into a medium like the 5:1:1 or gritty mix .... or any recipe based on coarse particles, and set the entire pot in the ground. Third would be to as suggested immediately prior w/o putting the plant in the ground. Worst would be to take a passive approach & hope for the best after getting a handle on the watering (if that's what it was). I asked as similar question somewhere else a few weeks ago and someone suggested some additional shade. Definitely not sugar. Very dilute fertilizer. Don't abandon it. In spring it may suddenly come alive.

It does appear to be overwatered.... Not sure if it can be saved... Honestly, it would cost less time to just buy a new one, but there are things you can do to try and save it. You will not be able to save the majority of the plant. Rather, you will need to cut off a portion and root it. That portion will have to have absolutely no rot on it, or it will not survive. Cut off a completely healthy segment, and dust it with cinnamon. let it sit for a few days in a cool and dry place. After that time is up, stick it in some dry soil, making sure you place it right side up. DO NOT WATER UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THERE ARE ROOTS. That is the most important thing to remember. when roots appear and leaf buds start to show, then you can water a bit.

It looks like it rotted from too much water. It's a small plant in a big pot, and it's mid winter and this is a succulent. I don't think this one will make it. My snake plants spend the season outside and may be watered every day, but in the house (in the Winter), I hardy water them at all.
