I've been keeping an eye out on the used market in my area (California) but so far haven't had any luck. If you see any in your area please do let me know; I'll pay freight fees for the dresser. hahaha Zocalo is a high-end furniture brand that had a warehouse in San Francisco. Twice a year they would open to the public for a massive sale (I hadn't seen anything like it before). People camped out for opening day and many (including vendors/shop owners) would drive from out of the area to stock up on merchandise at very low prices. When the market crashed back in 2008 they decided to close up shop in the Bay Area :( and go down south toward LA. While I thought I could find them in that area that is no longer the case; it looks like they moved their business to Ireland! Check them out on Yelp. What Kitycat says is true, leave the configuration of 3 bedrooms so that future owners can have the option since most families will need that with children around. It would affect the sale of your home. I say that because 2 bedroom homes are not that sought after. Our little cottage is 2 bedroom and it suits us. I figure the way we have it (planned) setup, it will be possible for this house to become a rental for two single individuals who want separate baths, closets, and some privacy. So each bedroom has its own bath, with the master having a walkin closet. And they do not share the hallway. The front bedroom (we now use it as a study) can be closed off making the hallway part of its suite and only using the bath if there are guests and the door to the hallway is not locked from the bedroom side. Part of my remodel to the kitchen will include closing off the master entry door from the (now shared) hallway, and relocating it to near the back door, as I also add a sitting area to the master. The sitting area COULD be left open to the kitchen area, but I have a nice old cypress door which will be mounted with barndoor hardware to close off the sitting area from the kitchen.....although I doubt we do that often, since we two old folks seldom have overnight guests. But, it is something I feel important for the sake of privacy. Anyway, you will sure get a lot more use from the space being set up to serve as a huge closet, more so than being under-utilized as a spare bedroom. Spare bedrooms or "guest" rooms, are probably the least used space in a home, followed by a formal dining room. In our house, the third least used space was the living room. We use the 2nd bedroom as our study and TV room. I now have my big parrot cages in the living room. We go through the LR to go sit in the sun porch, always a pleasant experience. I have ideas how to make the LR work harder and fit in with our lifestyle. With the return of french doors to the doorway, I now see the LR as our potential guest room. That way, our study stays intact and undisturbed because we use it more hours in the day/night than even the kitchen or the bedroom...or the bath, for that matter.

I'm going back and forth on adding in some small streaks of the green and bits of silver. Here's what I'm thinking as of now: 1) Base coat - Color match to the beige/light gray in the pillow that comes with set (see picture of forest green comforter I added above.) 2) Add a FEW streaks ("strie"- the vertical lines), of the green and light gray (or whatever the "beige/light gray" pillow color is). I would add maybe 1 streak of each every 7 - 8 inches. I probably wouldn't even be using a teaspoon of each color for the entire wall. I doubt it would even show in the pictures, but when one is in the room, they would see a very subtle lines of the green and light gray. And if I even change the comforter, I could just paint over the green and light gray streaks. 3) Add the metallic paint (something light and "pearly") as the final coat on the headboard wall. 4) Paint the rest of the walls in the base coat (the beige/ light gray color matched from the pillow.) I really like the "drama" of the forest green comforter against the light walls. I also love that large gold metallic vase in @Molly 's picture. Thinking of doing something like that in a pewter. Now just have to find a massive vase that doesn't cost $300+ dollars.

There's nothing limiting about black furniture--it's a neutral and you can do any color with it. Here are some really pretty and colorful bedrooms with black beds. As you can see, they use natural materials, colorful wallpaper, rugs, window treatments, wall color, and accessories to liven up the rooms. You can also pair black with brown furniture as long as there's enough contrast. Whether you keep your dressers is up to you. If you need the storage space, then keep them. As long as they fit the dimensions of the room, they're fine, even if you don't need them for storage. But you could also use other furniture if you like--a reading chair with a table and lamp, a bench, a desk and chair. Depends on the size and configuration of the room. You might want to post a scale drawing of the room for us to help you further.
