Blasted floor registers; can I set bed over floor vent?
Comments (7)Not only will you be blocking the heat from warming up the room, but you will have a very, very dusty area under there. Could you get some sort of extension - a "duct" that you can connect to the register that would maybe carry the heat through the duct and out from under the bed, preferably the foot of the bed? I don't know if I'm explaining myself clearly....See MoreWall vent vs floor vent
Comments (4)Can you extend it the other way and put the vent on the interior wall? Or use a floor vent cover that is set flush with the floor and meant to be walked on? (both the cats and people in our house like the registers in the middle of the floor that you can stand over or lay down on) Putting your heat in a cold exterior wall is asking for inefficiency. At worst, use a can or two of spray foam to insulate as much as possible....See Moreround or rectangular mirror and floor vent color.
Comments (2)That's a nice mirror and I'd use it. It's calling out for side sconces and it's worth the expense of an electrician. Overhead vanity lights would ruin the look. They're better over a horizontal surface....See MoreHeat vent covers on hardwood floors - can I see yours?
Comments (10)They sell flush frame hardwood vents at your local flooring supply shop, not home centers. A 4x10 flush frame oak vent starts at $40. Purchase vents with 1" frames, avoid 3/4" frames (cheaper). 1" frames will less likely to split or crack. Installation is simple, square it up and toe-nail it on the inside of the frame. You can cut into existing flooring. Installation requires a track saw. Depending on your cutting skill, you can freehand cut. It is wood, high humidity will cause it to expand and get stuck....See Moreknitsewoften
