I have zero suggestions on color - sorry. But I will suggest that if you haven't already done your homework on what it takes to do a decent paint job on wood cabinets, do so. Your cabinets look like oak, which can be quite difficult to paint with good results. (I actually like the look of them, especially with your floor.)

They’re nice but not to my taste...both the cabinets and floor are too orange for my taste and the floors are actually in pretty bad condition if you look closely. 😬 if we can’t do the updates ourself (which is very possible lol) we’ll definitely be hiring someone who knows what they’re doing!

Do make sure they know what they're doing. Ask them if they think it will require filling the grain. If they don't know what that means, keep looking!

Have no idea about your budget, but I would consider replacing the doors and just painting the cabinets. By the time you hire someone to fill and paint, I feel like it would cost the same with mediocre results. I would do a white color for the cabinets. If the floor can be sanded and refinished I would do that. If you don't like the color look at other topcoats.

Hmmm yeh I’ve been seeing a lot of white kitchens with this color combo. Im ok with the tops being white but I feel like I might need to go with a different color for bottoms and island bc I have young kids 😕

There are RTA online places to purchase doors. You can then paint the cabinets and doors yourself. We used thecabinetjoint. All depends on how handy you are. Many will say, to have it painted professionally it'll be 7-10 thousand by the time the doors are removed, finish is taken off, filled , primed and then repainted.

Oh, forgot to say, filling in all the grain of oak is hard, would not recommend for a newbie. If you do not get it perfect, it will show and often blotchy :^( My friend tried to do hers and she finally just broke down and bought the doors.

I would wait and save. If you've just moved in, inevitably some home repairs will pop up. Painting cabinets is costly if done professionally and timely if DIY. And since yours are presumably oak, it's a tough job for a pro.

As for aesthetics, the b/s and counters do not complement each other. They are too busy for each other and one has to go. If the floors also have to go, it's best to do this all at once rather than piecemeal.

While you are waiting and saving and living in and using your kitchen, make notes. Does the layout work for you? Would you switch the placement of any appliances? Do you wish you had different storage? Do your research and get an idea of what you like, what you don't, etc.

B/s would be easier and cheaper to change. But wait until you figure out your cabinets. B/s is the last to be decided.
