4 week old Bluegrass sod has brown spots

I live in the SF Bay Area & we self-installed Bluegrass sod 4 weeks ago today in this 200 sq. ft. area of our back yard. We prepared the soil, laid the sod, and hand-watered it 4×/day. It established roots & was looking beautiful. At week 3 we lessened the watering to once a day at 6am, for a longer period to keep the soil moist. No problem.. until we gave "Lawrence the lawn" a haircut!

At 3 weeks we mowed because the grass grew quickly. We aimed to cut 1 inch off like we read We should but I think more than that was cut. 2 days after mowing, Lawrence started to get brown spots.
It was been in the mid-70's to mid-80's these last four weeks & the area gets about 6 hours of direct Sun. I started watering the brown areas but but I can't tell if it is helping or hurting. What can I do?? Water more? Fertilize it? ( I know nothing about fertilizer or lawn.) All suggestions are welcomed. One photo is week 3 & the other is week 4.

The last photo is pre-mow.
