Rainforest Sunrise--Looking for a name
Comments (8)Hey Chris, thanks so much, should have known you would have the answer! Thanks Babka, lol--Rain Forest Shade--I really like Rainforest Sunrise too, just an all around nice hosta. Little Blue seems like another hosta misnomer. Pam good info too. Wonder if the pix at HL were taken after Blue Maui greened up, hmmn probably was never blue I guess. I'm thinking that when it came time to name the sport that Blue Maui was a cooler name than Green Maui ;-) Eileen...See MoreH. 'Rainforest Sunrise' chewed
Comments (4)Are the holes in many cases still showing remnants of a clear covering or are the holes entirely through the leaf? Early in the season, I had sawflies on the leaves, and then I noticed in the soil beneath the plants traceries of silver but not slug slime. This was like silver threads. And, then the holes came. I used the Bayer spray on them, but also discovered that the ammonia solution sprayed on the soil, leaf top and bottoms, also helped get rid of them. The sawfly larva move around on the soil surface and not sure if the eggs are laid on the leaf or not. Most of the larva that I FOUND were on the leaves falling from the trees above. So check for the dead leaves and see if they are hosting some larva which can also go to your hosta. Looks sort of like my chewed leaves....See MoreShow off your Orange/Apricot Roses, Part II
Comments (15)I second that Kathy! Beautiful roses Seil & Robert! I don't know which is my favorite: Shropshire Lad, Sisters at Heart, Hondo, Lady of Shallott... I just got some cuttings of Tamora in the mail and I'm trying to root them; boy those thorns are something fierce!!! I had no idea they were like that! Thankfully from your pictures, I can see the blooms make up for the thorns :) Tammy...See More?Rainforest Sunrise? ?Raucous Ruffles?
Comments (5)Donna, hard to tell from angle with no close-up, but I wouldn't be happy with all that mulch around the crown of RR. You may be surprised but it could send up additional pips as a result of injuries and not being familiar with your zone, I would still venture to say you could still get reflush of growth. Do you think mulch is too close and too deep? I experienced that at my daughters yesterday...looking for pips to dig out hostas for pending move. I'd be tempted to give it more sun this year but can't vouch for sunburn...but it would get a jump start for next year. granted, our climes are so different but I notice such vigour in the hostas that get more sun than would be normal. RS is a freak of nature ? Probably will behave next year. Kind of cool and oh so symmetrical! Landscapers, aka hired crew, often aren't gardeners and they can be so sloppy and uncaring about surrounding vegetation. I am sorry some of your hostas sustained damage. :(...See Moreliquidfeet Z6 Boston
