Need pics

I’d want decor on it. Something personal, that I enjoyed looking at. I lived in Europe for a while and loved how not uptight they were about decorating ornate old homes. They (people I met and homes toured) did mostly what they wanted. And it worked. For instance this. A verrrry old house. If someone posted here about doing this, there’d be gasps all around, lots of pearl clutching, and sanity being questioned. But I think it looks pretty great. It’s personal, enjoyed by whomever lives there, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Another that would cause the vapors here .... ****** It looks like you’ve recently moved in. Take a while and scour unique places for whatever you’d like to look at. Me? I’d want lots of tall candleholders, maybe a mix of finishes and styles. I’d look in antique stores, but mix some modern in, too. Eclectic. And I’d dang sure light them up and enjoy the reflection. I might add some framed pics in the mix and other objet d’art I like. Maybe an orchid in a pretty pot. Things collected over time. All that said, maybe you do prefer a more minimal look. In that case, yes, leave it bare. But I think it would look nice decorated.

@Ann D A new thought - you know the ”odd number of items” rule? Applies to anything being grouped. If you can figure a way to hang smaller items on the stone - 3M hanger strips maybe - hang one of the 2 exisitng items on the left & taller side of stone wall & leave the second piece sitting on mantle. Find a 3rd & coordinating larger piece for the right side to either sit on mantle or hang slightly above. Now you have your odd # of pieces as main arrangement. And, you only need one more piece! If you put a blue vase on mantle, put it on opposite side as blue piece on hearth.
