Best solution for shower window?

We are planning to have our exterior wood trim repaired and repainted this summer (the house is 120 years old and much of the trim is original - lot of rot). While going over the trim with the carpenter, we noticed that the trim around the shower window is completely rotted. Turns out, the window in the shower has been leaking water onto the exterior trim for quite some time (I don't use this bathroom and DH neglected to mention this little issue to me...grr). The window is a double-hung, double-paned vinyl replacement that clearly needs to be replaced completely - moisture has gotten between the panes and there is now mildew growing between them, etc. See photos below.

The bathroom has a fan that is vented to the exterior so we don't need an operable window in there, but we do like the natural light so we don't want to close it off entirely. What is our best solution for a waterproof window? Glass block? Picture window? Is it possible to replace the window without destroying all of the tile surrounding it (not that this tile is in especially great shape)? Should the new window be installed flush with the tile to avoid an interior sill, or would a solid-surface interior sill work well enough to keep moisture out of the wall?

Finally, this bathroom is probably not long for this world, as we plan to do a gut remodel eventually, possibly as soon as next summer. Would we be better off waiting to do the whole thing at once, given that replacing the window could compromise the existing tile? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
