Master Bathroom Cabinet Color Ideas

We need to choose the color of our master bathroom cabinets and walls.

Cabinets are floating shaker cabinets (double vanity). The counter top will be Calcutta Laza.

We have selected a off white/ cream colored floor tile. The tile has very thin lines and a little specs of sparkle that shows when light reflects at a certain angle. It will not a predominantly sparkly tile.

The shower walls and floor will be this tile also.

There will be a free standing tub by the wall on the left of the vanity. We have chosen a black porcelain tile with gold veining for the wall behind the tub. We will use this same black tile for a long vertical niche in the shower which is on the wall on the right.

We need suggestions on what color should we paint the cabinets and remaining walls of the bathroom.

Hi @multitaskingpro! I'm trying to imagine the layout of the bathroom a bit. If I am right, the cabinets will be surrounded by white? At least the floor tile and countertop? Will the cabinets be mounted right beside the black tile or completely surrounded by the painted wall?

Either way, I like to maintain a color palette in the bathroom and yours is pretty defined. White and grey lines (the countertop), white/cream, black, and gold.

If It where my project, I would paint the walls white so that the accent time (the black) to have a nice contrast.

Regarding the cabinets doors, it depended if you would like them to show off or not (are they flat panels or have moldings) If you want them to show off, I might look for a gold color/texture similar to the one in the accent wall, but to pull this off you need a big bathroom as it will make the space feel smaller. If you want to "hide" them, then maybe the grey from the countertop might work, or just white if the bathroom is small, as you will have plenty of accent colors with the wall behind the freestanding tub and the niche in the shower.

@MIK Architecture, thanks. here are the photos of the floor plan of the bathroom as well as the two tiles. The black tile will go behind the bath tub. The vanity is in the center and shower to the right. My cabinets are painted shaker. I was thinking of painting them either similar color to the floor tile or off white or go completely bold with a darker cabinet.

olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? Ha ha, don't like my boulder in the shower? Yes, I agree the bench is more practical Good idea about niches, it keeps everything neat. I am not a big fan of towers, as the space can use some interest in the design. You have enough space for a linen cabinet and it can be smaller in width. Visually it will look better with the vanity top from one wall to the other, even if the cabinet is in front. If you feel a tower is right, consider having on the left side of the vanity as you walk in. If you hang the vanity off the floor (not have the cabinet to the floor) the bathroom will look larger. I like modern also with a touch of classic elements. There are so many options for bathroom design. Looking for Master Bathroom Countertop Storage Ideas

You need drawer and shelf organizers and baskets. You have plenty of storage already for 2 people, and a very nice bathroom!! Do a pretty runner on the floor that goes the width of the vanity instead of the two mats. You can put extra padding under it. I have a plastic container with my “day” face products and one with my “night” face products. I grab the container out, do my thing, then stash it back away. I decant my face cleanser and hand soap in pretty pump decanters that stay on the counter. Toothpaste and toothbrush in a tall tumbler that matches the decanters. Makeup is organized in drawers. Cotton balls, q tips, hair styling tools and products etc in drawer and shelf organizers. If the lower doors open to cavernous spaces, invest in a system that is easy to pull out and use, which will help you stay organized. I try to keep my products grouped in containers by use, which helps keep the drawers and shelves clean. Containers get washed as needed, but it’s much easier than removing a whole shelf of stuff. I am RUTHLESS about throwing out products I don’t use often.

Hi @multitaskingaddict, sorry for the delay! I didn't notice the message.

Looking at the plan, you could say that while the bathroom isn't small, but it isn't big either. Unless you want the bathroom to feel long, I would go with the lighter color to make the bathroom look wider. So, I think you have three options; white, the countertop grey, or the lighter shade of the floor tile. An excellent next step would put together the samples of the floor with the sample of the counter and try to imagine what is the best intermediary color.
