Lose the planter boxes please? Far too small and a waste of money. Concentrate instead on the landscaping below - still too small, and over assorted. Scale matters.

Beth, do you happen to know the paint color of the first photo? I like the blues, but the house next door is a darker shade of blue and I would like to do something a little bit different.

Yes, ignore me of course : ) Plantings certainly DO grow. A pro considers that, your climate, the maintenance, color, flowering or not, scale and proportion, and shape. ALL of it. Maybe don't ignore these things, and end with a more welcoming curb appeal. Yes, the planters are too small. Scale and proportion. Sorry.....too small.

Unlike the rest of the landscaping, the planter boxes aren't going to grow. They are too small and should be removed or enlarged before painting the house.

I agree the planter boxes are too small. I do have another one and wonder if I add it between the two if it will look better. Planter boxes were a gift .

I defer to others on the color but I do think you might want larger craftsman style house numbers. I would love the window boxes in the front, I don't think they work well.

Sharonax3, your house is charming! And the suggestions for colors out of the earthy green range are spot on for a Craftsman. I especially like the ones with deep red accents. Speaking of which....I would ask you to check on the growing habits of the beautiful little ornamental Japanese maple tree that you have planted in your front bed. You really should pull it away from your front porch...and allow it room to grow. It is not a bush. It will want space! It is a beautiful specimen and deserves a feature spot of its own. Its gorgeous color will complement your house. Good luck with your house painting project!

You could put the planter boxes (2 right next to eachother) on the smaller window by your side entry.

ok, since everyone is on you over the box size, I made them a little larger for you. maybe double them and center them under the window. they do look better larger. I also gave you proper Craftsman style numbers. You could choose a diff location.

as for the color of that first pic, I gave you some close options for that grayish green hue

Choose one of the darker greens for some accent contrast,

and maybe a warmer Autumn type color for the door. Or you could do this accent color on the porch like a chair , bench, or even a porch floor or ceiling color.

don't forget some ceramic pots in the copper color

or better yet, window boxes!

Thank you so much. I will for sure look into a new address plaque. The numbers I have now are only temporary, because I had nothing and my town cited me for it. A big thanks for all the ideas. Love the copper accents.

I'd use a light grayed green for the stucco, and white for the trim, so the trim color enhances the size of the white window trim. Move the window box to your small window near the front door. It can still be seen from the street, is sized better for that window, and will be easier to water in that location. The boxes don't belong on the front of your home.

I just painted my house midnight blue by behr and I’m so happy with it! would Also look nice with your white trim

I also did mine by myself with a roller a paint brush and a ladder it wasn’t really that hard if you’re worried about cost. The whole thing cost about 300 bucks.

On the one above I made the column caps a darker shade.

If you feel bold, go dark.
