Racing Red Induction- 1yr later
Comments (19)What plllog and hvtech said, plus have you seen this thread on how hot cast iron can get for searing with regular induction burners? http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2349168/maximum-temperature-on-an-induction-cooktop. For wokking --- whatever variation you might have in mind --- I suggest you try a google/ask/whatever search using this string: "gardenweb + induction + wok." That should get you a dozen or so previous discussions of the topic. Also try repeating it by substituting "chowhound" and "egullet" for gardenweb. That may tell you as much or more than you wanted to know....See More4 yr old Carrier Infinity needs 2nd compressor replaced
Comments (6)Thanks so much for your input. I asked the authorized dealer that we purchased it from when the tech came out and gave me the bad news , or told him that we needed to get a Carrier Regional Rep. out, he just said good luck, if you do get him out, you'll probably be on a long waiting list. I did have another service tech out, and he told me that since the dealer did not register this unit with Carrier, the warranty is only for 5 years,#*^%#$$$, I guess I'm pretty upset now since if I do replace the compressor, I only have 1 more year warranty left. When they installed the system, we only have Propane for the Heater, well they never put the nat. to propane orifices in, which caused a loud noise, like a BOOM every time it fired up. I had to threaten him with a legal letter to finally get someone out to do the right thing. Really makes me think the Tech. didn't know much about anything. A/c does have the model # 24NANA1, or 7. Thanks again for your help and letting me ramble on....See More2 yrs later....totally new kitchen plan. Thoughts?
Comments (5)Nice to see all the familiar names again!! We did start over 2 yrs ago and then scratched it when the economy turned... back to a more manageable project now. bmorepanic: I was waiting for scaled drawings, but I think you are RIGHT. I measured roughly and does seem we could only fit 36" aisles behind the sink.I opened the DW and it left barely any space. Not what I would choose, but not sure how we can fix that either given the limitations of the space. Maybe it will be more clear with the to scale drawings. Re. the pantry, we have not picked out any of the cabinets in these pictures-the architect just plugged them in(he happens to have KD exp) but yes, I think I would prefer pull outs as opposed to the tall/lattice ones shown (are those the ones you were questioning?) Rhome &pllog:I will take a look at the sink /range issue. I can see what you are saying. We were trying to keep things as simple as possible, minimize exterior siding work, venting , etc...since this time my husband will be tackling it vs. contractors. Plus I was never super comfortable last time with that windowless sink issue but it wasn't a deal breaker (remember that?) I do think the prep sink can easily be moved and makes more sense by the range-wherever it is. Plus seemed like a lot of sinks in one area with the wet bar one too. The wetbar area was added where we have an existing kitchen table bar in the 'breakfast nook'. It is an awkward area to make use of.. but seemed like a wet bar (maybe coffee too) would be handy there to serve the dining room, patio , screened porch etc. I do think it would have a beverage fridge , which is why actually the AD had the fridge on the other side in the 1st plan. But he also liked it in the 2nd plan and thought it would help conceal the end of a bulk head or something like that better if to the left of the fridge and we could steal space from the 'wet bar ' area to use a full size fridge if wanted vs. Ctr.Depth. I am now most concerned about the aisles. Originally my thought was the kitchend could be as wide as we wanted by stealing the old office space but there is a beam that runs at the top of the basement steps thru the powder room so it was best concealed by ending the kitchen there and running it thru the narrow pantry cabs he added. One thing we did accomplish finally... is we ordered a 4 panel gliding door for the dining room to the porch so that will make for a nice 6' opening in the middle out to the porch so I anticipate using that area more. Thanks so much -so glad to see all the experts are still around and willing to help! I am reposting a pic in case this one works better (bigger) by taking a photo of the drawing and uploading to photobucket, but still seems tiny to me....See MorePlugmold 2 yrs later - would I do it again?
Comments (7)Loves2cook, I want to thank you for your post. This is one of the reasons why GW and the people who post here are so great! I learned about plugmold here and was very keen on the idea. Unfortunately, my electrician was negative about it which I was prepared for also because of GW, having read that some electricians find it a pain to install or something. I was prepared to insist on it until my husband nixed the idea. He is on the tall side and didn't like the idea of having to stoop down to find the plug. It was one of those times where I had to pick my battles and I decided to let that one go. However, we are still smack in the middle of construction and I do still think of that Plugmold. So as of right now, I am crossing that off my mental "should have done" list so thank you!!!!...See MoreTrish Walter
