Carpet roses and Drift roses are very similar. Just different brand names for different companies. The Flower Carpet series is bred and sold by Noack Rosen, Germany. Drift is by Meilland and sold here by Star Roses. They are both low growing and tend to be spreading rose varieties. Also known as ground cover roses.

I would give it a try and see how they do. If you don't get enough sun there they may grow but not bloom. My flower carpet gets covered in the spring and then I get intermittent scattered bloom the rest of the season.

I have different colors of Carpet Roses. The hot pink one repeats faster and more than other colors. Here is a photo of mine.

I'm a big fan of the Drift series. They perform so much better than the Carpet or Blanket series. 10 times as much flower and a more manageable habit...not as sprawling.

I also have one Drift pink rose that can take the street salt by a mailbox which it's wonderful. Carpet roses couldn't take salt. My Drift rose stays small compare to Carpet roses which have long arms and legs. Because Carpet roses are bigger, so the colors pop more. They both are landscaping roses. At the time when I planted about 75-80 Carpet roses, there weren't any Drift roses available yet.

If I drove over to Star Roses and announced I came to buy a rose, they might laugh. Before summoning security to throw me off the property. Or unleashing the mastiffs.

Noack has no presence here. Their affairs are handled by others ( who themselves do no selling to those like you and me, though they will courteously answer our questions).

I found two old photos from 2011 when I started rose gardening with 250 Carefree roses (KOs and Carpet roses). You could see the different colors of Carpet Rose were in bloom. Hopefully they'd help you to understand Carpet Roses better. :-) This house is facing north, there are some Carpet roses are in half shade (in front of the house). The afternoon sun in your garden should be Ok.

I got a drift rose!!!! And at a garden center near me!!! Had only 2 left same color. So heck I am not fussy and besides it was drop dead gorgeous!!!!!!! Brought it home and every body was spellbound by it like I was when I first laid eyes on it. My other query can one get a 2nd one if you take like a cutting from it??? What do you need to do so?? I have peat pots on me and rooting medium and soil. Sun comes in my West living room window. Gets full sun all day here so should like it here!!

I love the hot pink carpet one. Boy I would have them going along the entire length of our fence at the back :D But not sure if the ones whom own the senior building would allow it. Also too I have yet to see any of them in our garden centers here. But maybe I could keep an eye out for one next year as well as an Aurora borealis. Would have better luck getting the last one I bet. My bus trips are limited during the week due to the corona virus crisis Also too anybody that had a vehicle to get any had an advantage over my having to take the bus. Finding it hard too to find the hanging planters of flowers. Seemed they all went as fast as what the toilet paper did:) Usually can get one from Walmart but not this year. Only other way is to buy an empty hanging basket and buy like some sun type begonias or impatiens or wave petunias and some dirt and do one myself.
