Cabinets & Fridge...did i really mess up?!
Comments (13)Congratulations on the wedding & new home! As far as the fridge area, you only "really messed up" if it bothers YOU! ;-) Personally, we opted to have our cabinets even with the front of the fridge. I love not having that spot full of clutter anymore! (seemed it always collected things up there...mostly to get them out of the kids reach) But only after really looking into remodeling kitchens on this site would I have really even thought about it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE mine this way...stays much cleaner/neater & easier to access the cabinet...but it is not HORRIFIC the way yours is now. BTW, your cabinets look great so far! BUT again...if your father can do it at a discount for you, & it is something you do want "eventually", I would do it sooner then later...wood cabinets change in color some as they age & you want them to all match. PLUS the paneling that would need to go around the fridge would have to fit with your countertops (not sure if that would be an issue or not) Looking forward to seeing your finished kitchen either way! ;-) JoAnn...See MoreGah! drilled a hole in the wrong place (m)
Comments (9)No, I really did it - it's well beyond the bottom of the handle and isn't covered at all. We're going to have to go in with wood filler and some nice color-matched putty. Hopefully it won't be so glaringly awful then. I guess I can have my cabinet maker put together another door...but he had the grain matched pretty well. It just sucks. I was trying really hard to get this right - I was nervous, caught a mistake before I went wrong - fixed that error and then forgot to remark this one door. Drilled it wrong and realized it too late. Argh....See MoreHelp! What could I be doing wrong in drilling holes?
Comments (8)I have to say this is why I love this forum! We've all done something silly, forgotten directions, lost our minds, or needed to vent, and each time everyone here comes through like a star! Thanks to everyone who offers advice, a hug, information or "listens" to someone rant/rave/cry/steam! Doraville, don't feel bad, I've done exactly the same thing, except I was trying to teach someone how to do it right, and...well.. the egg is still on my face LOL!...See MoreFaucet hole drilled in wrong place! =(
Comments (16)I can't imagine why anyone would drill the faucet hole so far from the sink unless it was specifically asked for because the customer wanted to use a humongous faucet. They made a mistake and should cover what it takes to repair properly even if it requires replacing the counter, but it would be nice if you could work out something that costs them less than that. Is the faucet 6" from the side of the sink. Did you plan to have an air switch for a disposer? If you don't have a hole for an air switch already, perhaps that hole can be used for the air switch and a new one can be drilled for the faucet. I think that the only way to fill a faucet hole and make it look right is if you have something else you want to put in the hole such as an air switch....See Morechispa
