If there's one thing roses have taught me, it's that they have a mind of their own. Your Jude just astounds me. So bloomy for such a little guy. Looks like he's a winner for you. Mine is approx 6 yrs. old and in all those years has given me one good cluster of blooms. I've given him lots of TLC and extended his removal date because has buds, so I guess I scared him.

My Lavender Crush has been in a pot for a couple years and taken into the garage for winters. He has grown very slowly and no blooms. Maybe he will be happier in the ground and respond to a better feeding routine.

I'm hoping for the best for both of these roses because they're not stereotypical with that fabulous scent of Jude and Lavender Crush's unusual coloring. Good luck with yours.

Thank you! I ordered Jude the Obscure this time last year and waited so patiently for him to arrive. The scent has not disappointed. I'm sad about Lavender Crush but it's in a prime spot and I can put something else there that maybe will be happy. If Regans has it again, maybe I'll try it somewhere else. I never thought about a pot so maybe that is what I'll try.

Mine sat for over two months before it put out a leaf.

So, Vaporvac - do you think I should give it more time? It was planted in late April. The others I planted at the same time have already grown significantly and bloomed. Not just the Austins, but some from Regans too.

Is it still green ? Can you show a pic ? I’d at least send pics to the vendor in case you need a credit or replacement. I did have the mill on the floss take absolutely forever to do anything but at least it has leaves . That’s all , just leaves and zero actual growth , I’ve already been in touch with DA just to be sure they know ahead of time if I need a replacement

I would give it time. However, mine does BS so I wouldn't want it in a prominent spot. It's off behind Star of the Republic where I can catch a glimpse of its blooms without seeing the rest of it. LOL! However, I didn't get to spray anything this year, so YMMV depending on that. Lilyfinch, too bad so many of mine are from cuttings so no vendors to contact! :-0 A couple are just sitting there yet to leaf out after our troubling spring that stunted and deformed so much new growth. I hope the warm weather helps nudge them on.

Did you get your Lav Crush from Regan? MY first one had suspect black on canes when they sent it and never took off. I complained and they replaced. The second plant showed little or no growth although it had a strong root system. I saw a container grown Crush at Lowes a couple of weeks ago, bought it, planted it replacing the Regan plant and it is going to town. It was 98 here yesterday, not good rose planting weather; the Lowes plant was not well tended as they had it in store since late February. I cut off dead parts, gave it vitamins and plenty of water and wow. In 2 week buds showing color. Not sure what happened with my Regan roses but NONE have done well and all have required nurturing just to live. I redid my garden this year ordering 20+ bushes from several venders and all are doing wonderfully. The 1 gal own root from Heritage have been the biggest surprise ,I know they are $ but they must give those babies steroids they have tripled in size and not stopped blooming.

Nice people at Regan but my roses did not perform. Others may have had better results.

Austin , that is so interesting bc my Edmunds roses have been so slow and not very pleasing also . I am finally getting blooms , but my Betty white looks ridiculous and my patience is running low .

FYI folks that is Heirloom Roses not Heritage Roses. I seem to alway mistype those two.

I've had irregular results with bare roots from the same order and same nursery. Some just sat there all year with few leaves and hardly any growth, then the next year they started taking off.

I bought three body bag Lavender Crush plants from Walmart about three years ago. I potted them in large pots the first year, then planted two in the ground and one in a large pot. They've done well, especially the ones in the ground. LC seems to have good vigor and health. So I wouldn't give up on that variety.

I bought three bareroots from Regans this spring..my first order from them. I potted them in large pots and have babied them. All three are doing fine, just now blooming for the first time.

I don't know what the parents are of Lavender Crush but it sure reminds me of Blue For You but double. Has the same white reverse petals and strong scent and good health.

Lilyfinch - no it's not still green. There was a little green in the middle of one cane but it slowly turned brown. I've continued to treat it just like my others that I planted at the same time. Now it's just brown sticks coming up from the ground! I got Life of the Party, PCdM and New Zealand from Regans, planted them all at the same time and NZ and PCdM are a couple feet high and have buds/blooms. Life of the Party is still tiny but does have one bud. It's really odd. I'm not sure the problem was with the plant, it could have been something I did or didn't do.

Oh no .. if it’s brown it’s gone . I would definitely call and get a credit , and keep an eyes out at Lowe’s . It could have been anything, don’t blame yourself!
