Show your lavender and purple roses
Comments (30)Hi Cori Ann, Lavender Crush has a spectacular fragrance, consistently very strong and yummy, like lemon candy...it will fit in well with your other edible roses! Even compared to all my other lavender/purple roses, which were all chosen in part for their fragrance, it is a standout. It is a very strong grower, extremely vigorous, very clean, sending up monster 8 foot basal breaks almost as thick as my thumb. It tends to flower only in big clusters at the end of basal breaks, but at least there are many basal breaks. I recently built a trellis to train it horizontally, so hopefully I’ll get some nice laterals next year. Here’s a pic of the fully open flower that shows unique combination of purple with a white reverse, and the globular shape. The flowers may look so dainty, but the plant is a big healthy thug! I’m glad to own it, the plant, the flowers, the fragrance everything about it is so unique and different from every other rose I have....See MoreLavender Crush Climber
Comments (170)@BenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14), your LC blooms are certainly beautiful. I wish mine would be like that. Mine only look good when the blooms just opening. Then the color is quickly washed out and does not look attractive. This is only spring and the weather is mostly pleasant. I can understand that @PDXRobertZ8 had to remove it. Mine does not take a prime spot....See MoreLavender Crush
Comments (33)Desert Rose, Oh I didn't read that right I thought you had LC planted there instead of Quicksilver lol. I must need my eyes checked 😅 I agree QS is a good rose. Always blooming here. I have 2 grafted QS and 2 own roots. The grafted ones bloomed wel the first year. The 2 own roots took a few years before they bloomed a lot, regularly. It was sporadic at first. Here Lav Crush has a nice citrusy fragrance. Quick Silver barely has any fragrance. LC gets more black spot that QS during our hot rainy summer season. They are both good roses. The LC is much more purple with a pale reverse on the petals. QS is more Lavender....See MoreLavender Crush - where are you finding this rose?
Comments (54)Sylvia, is your LC then grown own root? I wonder how it is performing. I assume the feet under the grafted plants I bought were their weaknesses. I owe an update on my diseased throw-a-bucket-of-water-on-folks'-enthusiasm post of a couple years back. After settling in, the bush has been much healthier than initially, and it's a keeper. (I had purchased multiple plants, and all but one grew backwards until they died. The surviving, but erstwhile disease-prone plant now has more established feet under it, and is doing relatively well, though nothing like Ben T's or Ann's spectacular plants!)...See Morethreeboxerlover DEZ7a
