Did you feel the Earthquake??
Comments (17)Hi Sue, did you get a note I sent about having a couple of big clumps of Happy Returns? Do you want them? Also, I have to vent. What is with this Bill RI6 and his complaining about the NE Forum? He seems to feel left out but does he see how alienating his comments are. I was so annoyed I actually called him on it on the thread "this forum" I hate to fan flames but it was more than I could manage to ignore. Or I didn't want to ignore it. How's your son doing now? School starts very soon. Hope you and he are weathering pre school jitters well. What did he do all summer? I just had a crew plant about 6 hydrangeas and a viburnum and miscellaneous stuff. And do a beautiful job edging; it will look like an pseudo english garden until Irine comes stomping in. Someone else had the idea of taking photos before the storm. Great idea. But I don't take photos, do I? I have an idea....if you need help putting things away Saturday, I'll give you a hand if you'll come take some photos before Sunday. What say you? Whatever you say, stay safe on Sunday and be well all the time! Marie...See MoreMemorable earthquake....for me anyway...lol
Comments (7)Moving from NE to CA, I had never felt an earthquake before either. Our first one was a week after my son was born. Him and I were sitting in the rocking chair, and it starting shaking side to side, Ilooked across the room and noticed that his swing was also going side to side. We lived about 70 miles from the epicenter that time, DH was at work which was about 50 miles closer to it... he said his desk actually slid about 3-4 inches across the room! It was a big laugh for all of us, we called everyone back home to let them know that we'd had one and that it was no where near as bad as a tornado! Speaking of tornados, did anyone watch the "Oklahoma's Fury" show the other night? I know most you talked about the May 3rd tornado earlier, they had footage of that one...WOW!!!! Watching that show really helped me understand why that is so memorable. We all just sat there in shock that mother nature could cause so such destruction. It seems like Moore and the surrounding areas have recovered and rebuilt very quickly. Again, the resilance and strength of Oklahomans at work!...See MoreWe just had an earthquake!
Comments (35)Hi, Natal, it was this morning's Diane Rehm's show. I reread what I wrote and should have stated associated with the oil and gas industry as many suspect the correlation lies with the W VA gas extraction taking place near the epicenter of yesterday's quake. There are oil extraction problems as well, but I mistyped. Long before yesterday's rumble, there have been lots of concerns raised about the gas exploration/extraction fracking. Congressional hearings are underway because of the serious water depletion associated with the practice as well as the water, soil & air pollution from fracking, not to mention uranium and several hundred other toxins involved. I'm not very confident that our government will take appropriate measures at this juncture. WY, CO, NY, W VA, VA, AL, and LA are just some other states where the alarms are being sounded. Of course, TX where this practice originated is deeply affected though long controlled by big oil & gas as is our home state, LA. Lawsuits are being filed in several states, but this is a huge problem that by and large the public is not tuned into yet. It's frightening how short term big oil and gas interests might outweigh our preservation....See More....Of Botannical Prints and Pool Table Felt
Comments (16)I personally like the more classic brick which I think enhances the room's pallet without compromising it and gives a more authentic poolroom look while still being in tune to the other elements, and it certainly looks great with the painting. I am for the BRICK, but I am always going to be in the minority here since my taste is a little different and I certainly do not lack opinion....See MoreLars
