Comments (6)The thing is it is your baby! Nothing like your own babies. I put a FW in my bog increasing the water to constant water and it did not burn as bad. Might try a constant water reservoir pot and a lot of shade, I'm saying no direct sun. I don't really expect it not to burn but remember it is your baby. I think the burn comes from heat that is affected by the sun but it can still get very hot in the shade. NEVER FERT A HOSTA IN FALL .... late next spring would be ok ... but you need years.. not fert.. to get them big ... what bruce said on mulch ... we arent mulching to extend the season ... we are piling it on.... NEAR GROUND FREEZE ... so they dont pop out of the ground... in late winter.. early spring ... leaves from the lawn.. have to be cut pretty small.. so they dont suffocate the plants .. i used to suck them up ... very dry ... put then in the street.. and then reduce them to about little finger nail size .... so they stayed fluffy ... snow cover is irellevant ... its good ... ignoring my crack about snow thaw in june.. lol ... dont leave them in the glass of water for too long.. they are not aquatic .... few days is OK ... ken...See MoreDo I have a Sport?
Comments (5)Many old roses produce both double and semi-double blooms. Since there are pics on HMF of both bloom forms, I would guess that this is normal for this rose. Color varying to the degree your pics show is even more normal for old roses - I have one (Anna Olivier) which normally produces pale yellow, pale pink, and buff with a reddish reverse blooms. All of them are normal for that rose - it varies with the weather. That's one of my favorite things about old roses! Jackie...See Moremae (zone 5b On)
