Thank you all so much for taking the time to answer. Mom said that first one is a "weed" that was growing in her yard. She had never seen it bloom though. It didn't bloom for me last year either but it overwintered in a part sun spot last year as opposed to full shade in her yard so maybe that is why. As far as the Jack Frost goes, it looks a lot better today. That photo is maybe a week after transplant. Today all the flower stems are standing erect. Thanks again! -Tina

Houttuynia cordata, probably the 'Chameleon' cultivar. It is rhizomatous, meaning it has underground stems which allow for considerable spread within a given site. That may or may not be an issue, depending on where you have it growing. +oM

I am doing a total overhaul of the yard this year and learning about ornamental shrubs in the process. ==>>> location usually helps ... if i might be so bold ... you might want to spend the summer observing and learning... removing weeds .. but plan on moving perennials and shrubs in fall ... to avoid losses in the heat of summer ... its not that it cant be done in the heat of summer.. its just much forgiving for the newb to time it out to the proper season to move things... see link.. first section ... https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub need a closer pic on the shrub ... without the sunshine back lighting it ... ken
