Comments (54)My guest bedroom has been painted a medium lavender for about 12 years and I'm ready to go lighter. It's the same size as your bedroom with one large window facing east. There's a queen honey pine bed, nightstand, and large dresser. The comforter is white with watercolory lavender and teal flowers, dust ruffle is white, and curtains are white. But it still feels dark on all but a sunny summer morning. It's the only time the kitties go in the room for a nap, so they're a good judge of ambiance in my book. Maybe you see the sun more than I do, but I need more light in my life! Tibbrix has said that dark rooms are cozy. But she has also said chocolate and other dark colors work when there's not much wall space to paint. It has to be broken up with windows, art, furniture, etc. If the drapes are staying, you've already got your color palette. Merry Christmas! Has he had enough egg nog yet?...See MoreHelp! Comments (12)For my daughter’s room (which faces north east) we plan on painting it BM slip. The room across the hall (facing south west, I suppose), I wanted to do in BM Beach Glass. I painted a sample board. It’s a beautiful color, just worried it will be too dark in this room. Am also thinking about BM Silken Pine or BM Healing Aloe. The room next to my daughter’s room (further north than east) will be my son’s room. Sapele bunk bed, navy sheets. Am thinking BM edgecomb gray (LRV 63) or gray owl (LRV 67), though I’ve read that gray owl can be a minty green in certain lighting. The problem is little lighting as there is only one window. The hallway will be BM Wickham Gray. This is the one color that will stay as is because it works with the great room and the main foyer. Any thoughts / suggestions?...See MoreTrying to decide on guest bedroom ideas
Comments (8)I like the 2nd one better. the darker palette seems more in keeping with today's floral trend, whereas the first pic looks like something my grandma would have chosen in the 80s. the scalloped edge doesn't bother me. I think it's because the other items in that room are not very girly. the simplicity of the sisal rug offers a counterbalance. also note how uncluttered the room is in general. as for the wall color, I feel like we need more info. can you post pics of your guest room? I'm curious to know what color the flooring is, and what you're thinking for other accessories....See MoreSlanted ceiling, wall painting ideas - bedroom
Comments (1)I would follow the same line that the wallpaper follows. An accent wall usually features something like art, an architectural feature, important furniture, etc. you don’t paint a wall a different color from the rest of the room just for the sake of painting one wall a different color....See Moreminnie101
