Why not have it be THAT one on the day you are coming to see it? It's numskull simple to twist wires on, twist wires off. Warehousing may be off site. Make sure they know you will take a new boxed one away if you are satisfied. I'd use a Canadian address to activate the warrantee and then move to the US. Nobody can prevent anyone from moving. All my family has stuff either from Canada in the US or from the US in Canada. It all works on the same electricity and/or phone system.

so you don't need so many burners either... i figure I've survived fine with 1 burner (hot plate) for 11 yrs and haven't needed a second that putting in 4 is a waste of counter space. same with the oven. my oven is about 13" wide and I would like one a bit wider so the panasonic seems to fill that need plus being convection and mw. having them together will also save space - no need for all the space a big regular oven takes up plus that of a mw! keeping these things at a minimum in use of space is a good thing in my small kitchen. This way i can put at least 2 more drawers under the cooktop! maybe 3 depending on limitations in the installation instructions. I think this will allow me to still have enough drawers and still utilize the corner space with a SS. I don't really like those so much but otherwise I was just going to not use that space. I think I can use it for keeping some canned goods in the kitchen (good for days I'm really sick - will save the steps to the pantry), normal use things like PNB, oils, syrup (tall stuff), some cokes and my water jug. I hope this works out in the end (since it'll be a number of months yet - I hope ge doesn't stop making those things etc) and i don't have to go back to searching / reconfiguring etc. It's getting old...lol! I was looking forward to not spending the money on a SS but it's probably not more than the drawers I would have put in there. I think I'll be spending about 500.00 more on the appliances - but it'll be worth the space and convenience in the long run. and will streamline the look of it also.

Bundy123 -- Two comments: one about why you got such a sharp response from Laat and the other about the hybrid range you might have seen referenced somewhere First, regarding Laat's sharp response, don't take that personally. This subject has been discussed to death for years and gets raised every few weeks. It almost always comes up again because of alarmist nonsense somebody just "discovered" somewhere on the internet. (For an example of the kind of nonsense that turns up: a couple of years ago, there was a website with a totally spurious warning to induction users that using metal spoons would electrocute you when stirring food.) Since you joined GW only a couple of months ago, you likely had no idea what a tripwire subject this can be or that an adverse reaction would have been defused by explaining that your doctor had raised the concern. For you folks and your doc to get a better handle on whether there are risks and to clarify what (if any) they might be, you can find a good collection of studies and references in the link I posted below. Second, there have been several hybrid induction ranges. There were a couple of them from Frigidaire, the FPIF3093LF and FPCS3085LF, but I can confirm hvtech's suspicion that these are discontinued. That happened last year. They are no longer avalable from most vendors but there might be some Amazon vendors who still have them in stock. There were several threads here where buyers discussed one or the other of the Frigidaires and you can find them with a google search string like: "gardenweb + frigidaire+induction+hybrid." The only other hybrid range I can recall is a gas-induction hybrid from American Range, but that's obviously not going to work you. So, its pretty much the hybrid cooktop from Electrolux or Miele and buying a wall oven to install somewhere. An alternative could be a diy hybrid cooktop set-up from a brand other than the Miele combo set.. I haven't priced this out, but there are numbers of brands that make two-burner drop-in cooktop modules that are 12 to 15 inches wide. These are sometimes called "dominoes" for reasons that will be apparent when you see a picture of one. You could combine an induction domino with a radiant one. You could mix and match brands so there is no confusion over which is which. There are a TON of both 30" (4 burner) and 36" Induction (5 or 6 burner?) cooktops on the market. Any would be far better than ANY radiant cooktop How do I know? I probably had the most expensive radiant cooktop on the market (36 inch Semi Circle)--It is now in the trash(replaced by an Electrolux Icon 30" Induction Unit). Even thou the radiant one had timers for each burner(we never used it), "could bridge between burners" never used that either. The Speed, The Control, The ease of cleaning, made this swapout a "No Brainer" for us---even thou I had to redo the Granite to get rid of that 36" semi circle. We Love the Induction----see "The Induction Site" on the net for your various options!! Once you narrow down the possibilities, go to AJ Madison and download the operator's manuals for your selections. That will tell you about dimensions-clearances, power requirements, and the way you actually operate the thing Gary
