@BeverlyFLADeziner thank you. Hearing that I won't find something more elevated has helped. It is both the height off the floor, I do not want to be 12 inches off the ground, and that there is no underbed clearance which seems not smart for cleaning and no mattress airflow. Nothing to me makes sense about it. Any idea why they just can't put taller legs on the upholstered beds?

I'm not planning on buying a boxspring at the moment, so I will probably just have to stick to a wooden bed.

First, do you want/need your bed to roll?

If you don't already have wheels on your bed, realize that wheels will raise your bed as much as several inches.

With or without wheels, there are inexpensive bed risers -- plastic blocks -- that lift your bed enough to add under bed storage bins beneath it.

If you're buying a new bed, begin with the best possible frame -- the heavy duty ones with taller legs and wheels. Then you can add any headboard -- including an upholstered one -- that you like. (Alternately, you could attach an "upholstered headboard" to your wall rather than your bed. )

If you want to keep your existing bed with wood legs, you might well be able to d the wheels intended for heavy duty tool boxes available in the big box building supply stores.

Will your ceiling joists / rafters hold the weigh of you and your bed (and the weight of anyone sharing it with you)? There are hanging bed frames often intended for a porch or pergola; however, they'll work indoors as well -- and you can choose how high off the floor you hang them.

Sorry, I still don't understand what your ultimate goal is here. The height of the mattress or the space between the frame and the floor?

You can purchase metal bed frames at all different heights and then attach them to any upholstered headboard.

I don't think they are very popular because dust ruffles for beds and bedspreads have a common drop dimension on the sides, and the shorter ruffle would leave the legs of the frame exposed.

My attachment on my canister vacuum will easily fit under a 4" rise.

@BeverlyFLADeziner I thought the two are related? My ultimate goal is to be sleeping more than 16" off the ground (which is lower than a couch), something closer to 25" which seems reasonable. Every bed I've seen has legs that are 4 to 6inches vertical height, slats and then the mattress (this is where I'm getting the 16" measurement from). I'm trying to find something with higher legs for more clearance from the floor, and ultimately, higher overall. Hope that makes sense.

Instead of buying so many separate items; metal bed frame (then some sort of upholstered cover for), separate headboard, boxspring, why can't there be a bedframe where the leg height is, say 12 inches in height?

For example, why can't the lulu and georgia bed I linked have 12inch legs? I have not found any beds like this, anywhere.

Have you discovered the joy of thrift store shopping for furniture -- such as a bed frame?

Are you just using a mattress w/o box spring? water bed or air mattress?

If you don't want a box spring, a DIY wood frame could be covered with a thin pad covered with a bottom sheet before setting your mattress on it.

and both the pad beneath the mattress and side frame could be covered with a solid color bottom fitted sheet (rather than using a bed skirt) if your bedding didn't hide the frame.

Are you at all DIY inclined? With this one, it's mostly 2"x4" lumber and you'd choose how long a pipe to use as a bed leg. Paint the metal pipe black and they'd visually disappear. Add a rubber cane tip to protect the floor.

Choose the right legs for your wood shelf on which your mattress will rest and it will not matter if part or all the legs/feet of the bed show.

You could always cut a 4"x4" post into legs the height you want and add them to the bed you find that you otherwise like.

@mjlb yup, Room and Board is one of the only places I've found with higher clearance, but I don't understand why. There has to be a higher bed that's not 2.2k. Anyway, I have settled for something else and feel much better.
