Help with getting rid of pet odor on ceramic or slate tile
Comments (2)If the slate looking tile is "hard slate" or "porcelain" it is not very porous. If it is "soft slate" is is very porous. Regardless of what the tile is made of, the grout will soak up urine/poo and it is impossible to get it out. Grout that is mixed/poured right will be less porous. However, the soupier the grout the easier to install, then the owner is left with lots of pinholes where the air bubbled out. Drop a few drops of water on the "tile" and see how fast it absorbs. If it sits there in a puddle, the tile is not porous. I would think covering the tile/grout with the enzyme for getting rid of urine would make a difference for the better. No amount of scrubbing will get the odor out of the grout....See Morecleaning slate-like, white, matte porcelain tile
Comments (2)I have a textured ceramic "slate" tile on the floor or my shower. It requires no extra cleaning at all. But yes, you can use your regular cleaning product on textured tile. I'm a simple soap and shampoo guy, my wife has lotions and potions, so the shower sees all sorts of product on the tile and grout. Still, it drains fine and everything disappears down the drain with no dried residue on the tile. The tile is a dark charcoal/black color (DAL Continental Tile Asian Black "slate"), so it would show any sort of dried haze were there one. A handheld head on a hose that can be detached from the wall can be used to rinse down the floor at the end of the shower. That goes a long way towards keeping the floor clean. Non-residue bar soaps like Zest help, too. A properly pitched floor helps. Proper ventilation to prevent long-term high humidity levels help as well. In a properly built and ventilated shower, cleaning should be pretty minimal. Mongo...See MoreCleaning grout off ceramic tile
Comments (3)Concerning the tiles at the ceiling, the taping mud should clean off with water. As for the shower pan tile, go to Lowes or HD, and look for a NONacid grout haze cleaner. They may try and sell you sulfamic acid crystals. Don't use them-- not yet. Try the nonacid cleaner, first. If that doesn't work, the sulfamic acid is the next step....See MoreMatte tile in bathroom - cleaning/staining?
Comments (6)In between thorough cleanings with dish detergent and water, you can keep glass tile looking good by using a glass cleaner or a solution of vinegar and water (half white vinegar and half water, sprayed on and wiped off). This is especially good for tiles in the bathroom, as these get covered with soap scum easily--the vinegar helps remove soap scum and mineral deposits....See MoreShirley Sparkm
