In defense of garden center workers....
Comments (6)Thank you to everyone that took the time to respond. Please dont get me wrong, I absolutely love my job.... where else could you get paid to do what you love??? I also love seeing my regular customers, talking with them, swapping plants, stories(some ridiculously funny) and also extras from our veggie gardens. Every night when I come home cold and tired, and maybe sometimes irritated from cranky customers, I honestly always feel good about my day. some of my co-workers are in the same boat as me, they have to work, and really put their all into it, but get taken advantage of, you know?? Also, the owner of the store is amazing, the general manager is an a** that I would love to meet in a dark alley with a board with nails in it, he's so pompous, I'd love to just let him have it!!! Anywho...... life is life, .... I have tried to tell the higher ups with $$ signs in their views, that by excellent customer service and amazing products, they could take it to the bank, per se', but who knows..... Also, alot of customers dont realize that while we're at work helping them, our own families and gardens are being neglected.... something I can definately relate to!!! Albeit, its a job, and a job I love.... for the most part. Keep your eyes open for "melissa" in a garden center near you, and I guarantee you'll get 100% honest info and I'll do my best to help you enjoy your garden, after all, thats my job, right??? Completely O/T, but I will post some pictures of my gardens soon, my peonies are in full bloom as are my delphiniums, my pure red lilies and my gardenia trees(for North Bay!!!! Ontario) are just about ready to break wild..... Keep looking!!! I'll post soon!!! If anyone has any gardening questions or just wants to chit chat, please send me a ??? or send a mail to my private addy, msw12142001@yahoo.ca Thanks again everyone, makes those crappy days all worth it!!! Comments (6)I was waiting for someone with more knowledge to pipe up - but... I went with a friend about 5 years ago, shortly after I moved here, and wanted stuff to plant, NOW. It was an open day, so I got plants and seeds on sale, but I have to say that it wasn't anything special. Many of their display/trial gardens were growing veggies, which was interesting, but not enthralling. I would NOT bother to drive the 2 or so hours to get there again. If you want a good public/show garden in the Charlotte area, try the Daniel Stowe Garden, to the east of Charlotte (I think). I've only been driven there once, and came from the west, so can't give you directions, but I thought it a very good exemplar of gardening in the South, with both the standard stalwarts and interesting, innovative, display plantings....See MoreNeed help finding the center strand
Comments (1)this was a discussion a few months ago - this was my suggestion then: another clue - you should be able to read the label and that would mean pulling the end from the right side. However, most times this works but there are times that it also delivers a tangle. you may want to read some of the suggestions here...See Moreneed help finding a media/ entertainment center
Comments (23)these "entertainment centers" don't seem to be that much different from the older "out of date" ones except they are more open or a very light wood. Based on recommendations to give away my entertainment center to help it not be a large dark hole, I have moved two of the ends of my entertainment center to the back bedroom we use for our exercise room. The remaining entertainment part I am still trying to work with. I have appreciated and moved toward the suggestions that the houzz people have suggested. Excellent forum to get help....See MoreJohn Schott
