A lot of plants in the Parsley family look similar from a distance. That could be a Ptilimnium species (i.e. P. nuttallii), or something else. These plants usually require a decent photo of the leaves and the bottom side of the inflorescence for ID.

Most all "wild flowers" are also classified as "weeds" depending on where they grow. Also cultivated flowers can be "weeds" if they are growing where they are not wanted. For example there is a "Rosa Rugosa" growing in a Lilac clump so that rose is a "weed" since I do not want it there. Where was the "wild flower" mix bought from? Some sources do not actually sell true "wild flower" mixes. kimmq is kimmsr

I looked up your suggestions and it looks like definite matches for rudbeckia, snow on the mountain, campanula, verbena hastada, ironweed, and fleabane. I'm not sure on the yellow one. Thank you everyone! It's overwhelming when searching for these on the wildflower websites and trying to narrow it down so thanks for your expertise.

Ken, Unfortunately not all will sprout next year (it only seems that way) ==>> ya know.. exaggeration for the sake of humor escapes some peeps around here ... but i do agree ... maybe only half of the billion seeds will sprout ... thats so much easier ... that she wont have to quit her job to make sure every single one of them is gone ... and do keep in mind.. some of .. maybe a quarter billion of last years brood didnt sprout this spring.. and are laying dormant for next year.. and even if he gets every single one ... they might still be hundreds next year ... one way to reduce such.. is to apply a good layer of mulch to cover the soil surface.. and never let anything seed on top of the mulch .. many of these things need to actually touch mother earth to sprout ... ken
