First One This Year
Comments (5)Thanks everyone, The pictures really dont do the flower justice (they usually dont) when you guys see the flowers for yourslef i think you will be quite supprised. So glad your getting flowers! And its not too too bad that i had to cut because now a coupple of other plumeria collectors will get a chance to enjoy and on top of that the base put out 5 more tips! So should have a great lot of cuttings next spring. Hope to get a few of each plant to make sure I dont lose the variety in a freeze. Take care and happy growing everyone! Comments (4)Roberto, I gave some like that away, from 'Gold Flame' and was thought to be 'Kristi'. Discoverer, Marvin Gonzalez Villegas, July 25, 2013, Plant Patent no. 13/374,901 Check out Woodnative's post about this plant. I think yours has more of the light yellow not tipical of Flame. Good find....See MoreFirst saw in lawn 2 years ago.
Comments (5)Yes, Epipactis helleborine is it. Here's an article: http://msue.anr.msu.edu/news/homeowners_battling_a_weedy_orchid_invading_lawns_and_flowerbeds The second picture in the article is exactly what mine look like. The article says if you pull them and don't get all of the roots, more will pop up. I can vouch for that. They mention that 2,4-D and/or triclopyr as the best bet. I'm still fighting pop-ups from a black locust we took out five years ago, so this will let me see which is the tougher foe....See MoreFirst one to bloom this year.
Comments (11)First bloom this year was Mademoiselle Franziska Kruger. No proliferation this year and she gifted me with two blooms. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture. However, she has lots more blooms on her that should open in the next couple of weeks. This is the second year I have had her own her own root. She was much more apricot/peachy colored this year. I am sure the weather had something to do with that but she sure is a pretty rose! Lots of other roses have big buds on them and should open next week. Keeping fingers crossed as the weather is supposed to be around 90 F for the remaining part of the week, which could ruin everything (again, like last year). Borderer also has a couple of open blooms on him but again, no pictures yet. I will try to get some tomorrow. Only other rose in bloom is a new one which is not an antique rose but a Dave Bang rose, Mango Blush. I do have a photo of that one. Very pretty rose but no scent at all, unfortunately. Very vigorous and disease free bush. I think this one is going to be a keeper....See More- 4 years ago
