Opinions on vacuum cleaner specs, please
Comments (8)I left the Dyson DC07 at my previous house with my now ex-husband. I don't anticipate having enough carpeting here to need it - but I can get it if I need it. And in any event, the Dyson upright is not a good match with oriental area rugs. I am currently using my Dyson DC11 canister - their earliest canister model, it has an air-driven beater bar. It's a workhorse - I'm using it as a standard vacuum cleaner for carpeting and hardwood and slso for jobs for which you would normally grab a shopvac. But I hate pulling a canister around the house. I hear you on the issue of deep cleaning the carpeting. But I would need to get into a bigger backpack model for an air driven beater bar. Can you give me a sense of the power of the Tailvac compared to something on the general market?...See MoreDo you have a 'stick' style vac that you love??
Comments (7)Yes. I have an Electrolux EL1000A2 Pronto Bagless Stick Cyclonic Vacuum. I love the thing. It is cordless so you can take it all over the house without having to plug and unplug the thing over and over like my last Dirt Devil one that I had. It has the best suction of any I have ever tried. Best of all it can be converted into a little handheld vacuum for cleaning the couch or auto interior. I was going to buy a handheld vacuum and also needed a new stick vacuum. When I saw this model it was like getting a 2-4-1 deal. It even looks pretty sitting in it's charging stand. Expect to pay a little more for this machine than other stick vacuums though. I mentioned this vacuum in another post recently. I have no connection to Electrolux or any vacuum business....See MoreCarpet cleaner using detergent
Comments (60)Can't comment on new cleaning machines. In the past I had a Bissell and it did a very poor job of vacuuming up the solution. New machine that my DS bought for me. After a very few cleanings, the Bissell then developed a problem where all the cleaning solution would drain out of the tank quickly. Repair part was on backorder. Ditched the Bissell and bought a used Hoover at a rummage sale. It does a much better job vacuuming up the cleaning solution. But it has a design flaw. A hose is breaking at a flex point; I have it patched with self sealing silicone tape for now. The used Hoover has outlasted the brand new Bissell. I'll be on the lookout to replace it when garage sales start again this summer. Likely will be another Hoover. It won't be another Bissell, that much I know for sure....See MoreWhich stick vacuum is good for hardwood floors and old carpets?
Comments (0)I am looking for a stick vacuum cleaner that has a “gliding“ non-power rotating head. In my house I have hardwood floors, and area rugs that are somewhat delicate/old. I currently have a ball Dyson, and on that model I can switch the power off to the brush motor; the base can then glide well on carpets and bare floor. I would like to get a cordless stick vacuum, but it appears that on the Dyson sticks, there is no “glider“ attachment and the motor brush cannot be turned off. Would you have any advice on cordless stick vacuums that can be used without a power brush and glide well without scratching wooden floors? Luca...See Morelocaleater
