Shower bases. Thermal formability?

Peke

I finally figured out the difference between solid surface and engineered/cultured stone/granite, I think. I had thought they were the same. Please correct me if I am wrong.

All are technically engineered stone.

Quartz- 92%-94% quartz stone and 6%-8% acrylic resins.

Brands:

Silestone

Transolid

Vicostone

Cambria

MetroQuartz

Caesarstone

Zodiaq

LG Viatera and HiMacs

Cosmos

Solid Surface - 66-67% Alumina Trihydrate and 33% resins

Onyx Collection - polyester resin

Corian - acrylic resins

All of the above are available in my state.

Question:

What are the pros and cons of polyester resins vs acrylic resins?

Question:

I read about thermal formability, but is it important for me as an end user? Some shower bases say they have thermal formability and some don't.

Is cultured granite and engineered granite the same thing? Not the same as cultured marble?

What about PolyMarble?

Thanks.
