Help me with some ideas to decorate this bland corner to get a rustic look but with bold bright colors that pop. The couch cover is obviously temporary and oversized as we got a new small couch and have cats. Give me tips on color and furniture layout and feel free to edit the photo. For now I'm only decorating this corner. I appreciate nice and constructive help especially :) Thank you!

I don't think the yellow green wall paint works with the current finishes and style of your home. A more gray/greige paint color would be more complementary to your stone throughout the house. I'd replace the fire screen for a curved on that is simple in design.

Either photo would work. I would use a very small, simple black or expresso frame, and make the artwork fairly large. Don't put anything else on the mantel or hearth - you have enough texture with all the stone. You can paint the inside of the fireplace black with high-heat paint.

Thank you for the feedback. I added a couple pictueres for design style (which is limited). I dont like a lot of clutter but certainly want to feel homey. thank you @littlebug Zone 5 Missouri i will see if I can paint the brass. The entire main floor is white to open things up. thanks @Jilly. The pictures are a bit fragmented and the golf junk isnt always there (kids are practicing to make the team!). The buffet is in my kitchen to give an idea of the remainder of the house and the foyer just to see what all the doors look like through the house.
