How to pot bareroot roses?
Comments (21)The two I got from Pickering soaked for two months (because I didn't get a round tuit) but the water was changed/added to on a regular basis since my pooches regarded the pail as a drinking fountain and I had to keep adding a gallon or more a day. I then potted into 12" pots, with the bud union way above the level of the soil so the entire pot could be used for the roots. I used a commercial potting mix - Fafard but MG or Scotts or whatever would do fine. They sat in the shade for a few weeks and are now out in full sun and thriving - Clotilde Soupert is in full bloom and Charles de Mills growing nicely. Figure on putting them in the ground in mid-July by which time they should have a good root system and that will give them several months to get established before cold weather comes along. Soaking over-night is fine if you just want to rehydrate them....See MoreHow long for a bareroot rose to grow?
Comments (24)Lol, I can already feel the addiction coming! The sad thing is, I won't be at this house for no longer than 3 years max because I just can't handle winters anymore so I'm trying to fill in areas with flowers, bushes, trees etc to disguise the awful chain link fence so when possible buyers come to see the house it will be the most flowered colorful house on the street! I am a novice at best but I'm trying lol..this is the corner I planted this weekend for under $60! Mulch included. My fence is so old and rusty plus I have awful picture windows where the entire neighborhood can see right in! So trying to plant certain things in areas to possibly double as a screen for my window lol Please don't laugh at my attemp at landscaping lol I'm trying to do on a budget ;)...See MoreHow many years can i keep my peach trees in 21x16 inch pots?
Comments (3)How long have they been in them? It's really your choice, but leaving them in the pots will dwarf them more and they will need to be root pruned if they are left there.I think a year should be okay, without doing any moving. Brady...See MoreAnother round of bareroot quart pots in HD
Comments (72)Wow Matthew $9.99 for 5gal roses??? Nice!! Let us know what you find. I'm getting anxious to see what potted roses will be coming in this yr. I'm jealous of you guys living down there in So Cal.. all those places to go looking for roses. We're limited to a few places up here. Probably just as well. I'd be spending all my spare time driving around everywhere looking for them. Hopelessly obsessed is right, man!! Yeah, we could do the trade-thing in the fall. It'll be til then that I'd feel comfortable shipping the SS's out anyway. So, do me a favor and take pics of that SUNSET CELEBRATION when it blooms. All the pics I see of it are apricot-y. This is what mine usually looks like: It's usually this orangey color with a yellow reverse. I seriously think it's something else. Either that or I got it and another rose mixed up when I planted them yrs ago!...See Moresbrklyn_7bny
