Hi, I just bought 2 of these from Home Decorators Outlet. We installed one in our family bath and love it. It solved our one bar for a family of 4 dilemma. I would recommend when installing that you have 2 people to hold it up while a 3rd works the screwdriver (power screwdriver if possible). Ours is a little loose since we did not realize the importance of pushing the 2 sides together firmly. It works fine but the bar turns easily and if you pull on a towel, it can spin off a little too quickly. When we re-do this bathroom, we will make sure to reinstall it better. It is not worth the bother until we are painting and doing the whole room. It is not a big deal, just a minor goof on our part that we are glad was not in the soon to be newly done bathroom. As others have said, that's pretty much where those things are put in tight hotel bathrooms. Anyone grossed out should just remember to put the toilet lid down before they flush. And unless your bathroom is the size of a bedroom, contaminants fly high and wide, so really, putting the towels either a few feet away or even more doesn't accomplish much of anything. (The only solution is to buy your own personal plastic sealing system and seal all your towels in plastic the moment you take them out of the dryer!) A ? to the OP: Why do you want to muddy up the look of the room, with the beautiful lighting, mirror and vanity, by adding a commercial-looking hotel rack? I've seen them in bathrooms before, but it really just looks hard against the wood tones you have. Why not consider two or three thick shelves, with nice "meaty" decorative brackets, all in a wood tone the same as the mirror? For what it's worth, I keep just 2 bath towels, a hand towel and a washcloth in the guest bath. If my guest wants more, he/she can find them in either the dresser or closet in the guestroom (there are also extra blankets and spare sheets there, where the guest can access them). I don't keep any towels in any of my vanity cabinets; that's where cleaning supplies (and the room freshener) and extra TP and such go.

My sister and I both have an omnipanel by Runtal. They are extremely well made and the omnipanel has a lot of flat area, which warms the towels. Runtal has a website which overviews their many styles and sizes, most of which are available as plug in, hard wired, or hydronic. Hers is quite a few years old, ours we just installed about a month ago. I like to put my clean clothes on it along with the towel to warm up! Our Runtal is 24" wide and around 36" tall and costs about 7 cents an hour to run. We got the programmable timer, so we can set it to run at specific times each day (but have not yet set that up). So far we just turn it on and off when needed. It would probably have been better to get a timer (but not sure if there is one suitable for that application). I first contacted Runtal about purchasing, they were great (but online was less expensive, not by a lot, but enough). I then had to contact them two other times (one for replacement faceplate on the programmable switch, and it arrived the next day) -- their customer service is great. Consider a little larger than you think you might need, it's great to have warm stuff! you need blocking in the wall or to hit studs to install these, they are relatively heavy. But that holds the heat. We only had one location in a small bathroom to install this, not sure but there probably are safety recommendations for where to install.
