Help! My fiancee's 7 year old daughter still sleeps in his bed!!
Comments (35)Help I have the same problem but it's EVERY weekend and it's MY house and MY bed. at first it was just saturday night but now his ex has taken to last minute asking my fiance to take his 8 year old daughter on friday night's. the first night she asked to sleep with us he got mad, he was still enjoying our cuddle time. i felt bad cause our relationship was so new i told him she was scared and it was ok. WHAT A MISTAKE! it hasn't stopped since, 3 months. he doesn't even try to put her in her own bed. if i do stay in the bed i usually end up on the couch. the other night i went to sleep in her bed but could not fall asleep. i thought screw this, that is my bed. they were both asleep but i pushed myself in next to him. i don't know what to make of it. i can't think she's afraid. it's a small house her room is literally 10 feet down the hall. we leave a light on in her room, the bathroom light on and both bedroom doors wide open. i've talked to him about this twice and my plan was to just go sleep somewhere else but now i'm thinking he can sleep with her in the little twin bed or if he can't be man enough to stand up to her and lets her come to our bed he can sleep in the middle so i can still be close to him. she does this whenever we are together. if we are sitting on the couch she insists on sitting between us. when we took her to the movies she let us know well in advance she was sitting in the middle. i hate to sound like a spoiled child. i just don't know what i am doing. i never dated a man with an ex wife let alone children so all this is new to me. he doesn't have these things to deal with as my children are grown. i think it is even harder for me because when my son was the same age i had moved in with a man and he was still dealing with his father's and my divorce. he would come to our bed almost every night. my boyfriend at the time would get very angry. i worked really hard to get my son to sleep in his bed through the night even as it broke my heart.of course i wanted to comfort him and make him feel safe. i feel like i am in a terrible position...See MoreHelp with 3 year old boy room - black paint!!?
Comments (64)Oh for goodness' sake. It's a can of paint, I'm not letting him run in the street, eat cupcakes for dinner, stay up all night long, get tattoos, or ride his bike without a helmet! I posted because I was unsure how to make it work, and you all helped me to see that maybe it could, especially if I just do one wall in Downpipe. If his choice was completely untenable, I'd tell him no. But if there is a way to accommodate him, even if it isn't my first choice, why not? It's a can of paint. Besides, it's so fun watching his big brown eyes open so wide with delight when you tell him something he's happy about. He keeps asking to see pictures of the "Avengers' bed" daily. He is so psyched. Yes, he's a lucky boy to have a say in his room. There will be times in his life when he can't paint the wall the color he likes best, and much much worse. But I refuse to prepare him for that famine by starving him now. This kid wakes up every morning, often before 5:30 (!), so excited to start his life that day that he can't fall back asleep. I can only wish that feeling lasts as long as it can....See MoreToilet for Our 140 year-old House
Comments (8)Thank you so much for your suggestions. I do love the look of the Guinevere. It is just what I am looking for as far as styling. I do wish it didn't cost quite so much, though. But Helen's post, and Chris's second, did lead me to Toto's toilets, which I was not familiar with before. I can see that people seem to be very happy with them. I am looking now at the Promenade II by Toto. It costs a bit less than the Guinevere. It has the ADA comfort height with an elongated seat and comes in either one-piece or two-piece configurations. It does not have the skirted styling, but I am willing to give that up for the cost savings. It uses the Tornado flush system. I wonder if any of you are familiar with this toilet. Cpartist suggests the Koehler Memoirs, which I love the look of, too. It is quite a bit less expensive than the Toto Guinevere. I wonder if it flushes as well as the Promenade II....See More3 year old wall decor. Help with ideas. Photos of room.
Comments (8)I love the mirror. I also love removable decals for kids rooms ,they change what they like yearly when young. I also do what you did and keep the walls really neutral since they also change their favorite color about the same timing. Some pictures of her are nice and some place for books and toys along that wall would be great . keep all that quite low so she can reach it all and the decals above. The furniture is pretty fancy so I hope she stays a girly girl for a long time. I like more simple furniture in kids rooms but now it is there embrace it for now. I would also ask her what her favorite color is and use it with the pink. I have to say I hated pink when I was little and I still don't really love it, at best in small doses. I also love a chalk board down low for self expression and to save the walls and a bit later room for huge corkboard for posters, pictures all kinds of stuff kids collect. This is her space and IMO never forget that....See MoreLizzie Borden
