Comments (18)Funny, funkyart, my house is a 1960's colonial...but I always wanted that old farmhouse. So we ripped out all (ALL) the wimpy moulding and baseboards throughout the house and replaced it with wide/substantial trim, Added hardwood throughout, and did everything we could to revamp the style. It's more of a colonial revival look throughout---with schoolhouse pendants, pedestal sink in the 1/2 bath etc. I bet you could make this work in your room too! I will post some pictures of the inside of the closet tonight so you can get a better idea of how big, and the layout etc. Pretty much, it is a wide reach-in. Not quite walk in closet, although it is big enough to walk into etc. just not to hang clothing on both sides. The entire closet is open, but closed off by the 3 sets of doors. 2 sets of the doors hold my clothes, and dh has one. Shoe cubbies fit on both ends (which may be may favorite part of the whole thing---Dh built them to fit shoes and purses.) The closet system is from Lowes, and I highly recommend it. You can customize it however you like and it really looks more $ than it is. We had priced out California Closets, and their bottom of the line style was almost triple the cost of these... and these are much nicer looking. If you can DIY, they are the way to go. Comments (7)Huge improvement! Well done! I probably shouldn't even post this, but perhaps this suggestion will help others, so here goes. While I like the look of shower curtain hooks with nice detailing like the new ones have, I've never had much luck with them functioning well, and it looks like yours may have that problem as well. I find they seem to come off the rod too easily, so one or two hooks are always dangling. It appears that in the middle that's happening there in your photo. I don't mean this as a criticism, but I find that sometimes my decorative choices just have to take a back seat to what will actually look good in the long haul--that is, I want any changes to be ones that will look good day in and day out, so I use ball bearing type closed shower curtain rings. And cute towels layered this way are great, but will I keep them that way every day? Unlikely for me, and I'm about as OCD as you can get. Judging from the before photo, the client isn't even slightly OCD. So they may find it will look better long run to install a towel ring that's open like the one I'm posting for the hand towel on the wall to the right of the sink. Then move that towel bar above the toilet to below the current one by the shower making them double decker somewhat, and raise that existing one up so you can have enough room to actually hang a towel on it without touching the lower bar. This is assuming you've got touch-up paint and spackle to fix the holes. :-) We've done this so I know it works. It will look great the first day you hang up nicely folded fresh towels, and then it'll still look good enough on day 2 when you may just have a spread out bath towel on the bar. It appears that the bar above the toilet wasn't being used in the before photo, likely because that's an awkward place for it, and possibly was placed there by the builder. Just a suggestion... I'm all for making it easy for spaces to look good. Moen Ashville Towel Ring...See MoreDD2's MCM Master Bath - Before & After
Comments (25)That looks so good. I was squinting and counting the 4" tiles in the original shower and came to the conclusion it was 28" x 28" -- same as the one in my ca. 1954 master bath. Mine also has a frosted glass door, which completes the entombment vibe. I can't wait to redo the bathroom, and hope it turns out half as well as your DD's....See MoreMaster Bath: Before & After
Comments (10)This came out great! The grey and white were good color choices for brighten up this area. Also the walk in shower is very popular with the bench seat in it. The lighting fixture is very nice as well and brings in a lot of good light....See MoreCreative Design Cabinetry
