I’ll post pics later but the place is still pretty empty. It’s not just a toaster unfortunatel, it’s the microwave, and the faucet. Place is small so it’s all together. What will make me happy is it looking out together :)

Okay! So keep in mind this is a small/affordable studio apartment in LA. The place needs some life. Also, I just moved in, so please excuse the mess. The cabinets are painted the same color as my wall (ick) -- white but not white white.

I want to go for that modern sophisticated look with black, white, gray, gold -- but minimalistic and mostly white furniture to brighten up the dark floors.

Thinking of changing the knobs in the kitchen (and bathroom) to matte black as that would lend itself better to the gold accents in the living space. I really want dining chairs I saw with gold legs and that’s right next to the kitchen with the stainless steel microwave, toaster, and faucet. I also plan on adding long open shelves in the kitchen (can’t decide white or wood) and a roman shade instead of that ugly vertical blind.

So! Do you think if I make the kitchen knobs black and have the gold in the living space that’s going to look put together still? I mean I can’t imagine everything is going to be exact.

While I have you, should I do white floating shelves or wood? It will be all white flatware. I know the wood adds contrast but I want to avoid the farmhouse looks and stay sleek and modern as much as possible since the place is old.

You can definitely mix those metals. Just mix a little silver into your gold moments in areas beyond the kitchen. Too much gold starts to look over the top anyway. GL :)

Yes, I agree that the matte black knobs would look nice.

I’d put white shelves in the kitchen because everything is white except the countertops.

You might consider a small rolling cart where you have the vacuum to remove stuff from your countertops.

It’s hard to tell but it looks like you might be able to spray paint your current chairs gold.
