Coir-Style Waterhog Mat? Anyone have this
Comments (4)I have two of the waterhog mats...one just inside the entry, and one at the kitchen sink. I don't think that they absorb water any more than any other kind of rug, I bought them for the color, lol! I haven't had a chance to hose them down, so I don't know how well they come clean, although I do vacuum them. Tried to sweep them clean, but there's too many ruts/grooves for that. The backing on them is too heavy to just throw into the washing machine, so if the weather ever warms up, I'd like to bring them outside to clean them. I also imagine that mine could go outside in front of the door too, just haven't tried that yet. Maybe when I get tired of them being indoors, I will ! Comments (8)It looks like what it is, a waterhog mat. Fact is, it'll take more than that to absorb what is ever on a dog's paws; two steps, and he/she is off the mat, right? If you want something mover esthetically pleasing, I'd go for a seagrass mat, or something like that, and keep some towels nearby to wipe the dog's paws with on rainy/muddy days. Otherwise, what you have does the job and is in a place in which it is meant to be. Depending on how trainable the dog is, you can always get a long mat to run along the entire stretch of the slider doors, and train the dog to walk down that mat when coming into the house and NOT on the round rug. It is doable! And that would allow more moisture and dirt to be absorbed by the mat from his paws....See MorePlastic liner and coir liner in an indoor wall-mounted hayrack
Comments (16)If you are going to try to convert an outdoor wall planter to indoor use there are a couple things to consider. The first is the plastic liner. You are going to want to use a heavy epdm or pvc pond liner. The thin plastic you get at Home Depot in the paint section isn't going to cut it. It will deteriorate and then you'll have a major problem. The other issue to consider is mold and humidity. Those wall planters hang tightly against the wall. Any moisture that gets between the wall and the planter is going to deteriorate the drywall and also cause mold. In order to counter that you'll want to attach the planter to the wall with spacers that will hold the planter off the wall by about 1/4-1/2". This will allow air to circulate around the back and allow any water to drain away....See Morelayering doormats outside
Comments (3)Apparently it's a Pinterest thing. Had no idea and still don't get WHY it's a thing. Doormats are generally utilitarian and not meant to be cutesy IMO....See MoreDLM2000-GW
