Comments (8)@rosemariero: No, they're around under various names like A. "Cornelius', A. 'Quasimodo' or A. americana 'Cornelius'. No one seems to know what it is, but it doesn't seem to be an A. americana sport. Stays small (under 3'), and takes full sun like a champ....See MoreP and Q daylilies 2020
Comments (37)Brad: I think the plant you are referring to is Lythrum Salicaria "Morden's Pink". The species Lythrum is invasive in the wetlands, but the hybrid Morden's Pink has never shown any inclination to reseed or spread. Doesn't matter. The plant police have banned it along with the thug species Lythrum in many many states. Throwing the baby out with the bath water imo....... I wish mine would have reseeded a bit in the 30 years I've grown it. I can't find any new plants of Mordern's Pink locally or in mail order. However, I did see it listed for sale at a nursery in Kentucky once. Don't know if the nursery is around you, but it is named "Wallitsch". ............Maryl...See More2020 letter.....M’s
Comments (17)GardenHo, good to see you back! I hope you're feeling better every day. At least you got it over with before gardening season. Last year I got knocked down for two weeks with a bad cold.... in MAY! I was so mad at the timing. So many pretty grasses. I can't bring myself to plant any because I battle so many grassy weeds, but I like seeing how pretty those big clumps can look, especially when they flower. peren.all, I'm so taken with that photo of your Monarda 'Cambridge Scarlet'. The lighting with the boulder, the trees, and all the pretty flowering plants. Beautiful! Myosotis sylvatica (Forget-me-Not) Muscari latifolia Muscari 'Valerie Finnis' - really is powder blue Monarda 'Jacob Cline' Hummers love these! Monarda 'Grape Gumball' Monarda 'Pink Lace' ....with a hummingbird moth Monarda 'Raspberry Ice'...See More2020 the letter T
Comments (48)sunnyborders - I had to look up your Tulipa urumensis because it looks like what I call Dasystemon tarda - apparently they are the same thing. They are part of one of my favorite spring combinations - with the 'Ivory Floradale- tulips, I call them 'essence of sunshine'! They've been blooming together for almost 20 years now - both gradually multiplying in the driveway border. This picture is from 2008 and I have posted it here many times :-) Many of the other T plants listed above are ones that I have tried to grow without long-term success (e.g. tiarella). Trilliums are important in the backyard and have been multiplying over the years - the white ones are much more vigorous than the red ones! There is a nearby woodlot that is carpeted with white trilliums in May every year. That is what I aspire to - someday we might have a carpet of them.... Rabbits are a problem here - they used to be not-too-bad - until coyotes killed off the foxes! Coyotes are obviously not as good rabbit hunters - plus we keep them out of the yard because one attacked Cole a few years ago. The foxes never bothered the neighborhood dogs so the foxes were welcomed in yards - not so for coyotes!...See Moresunnyborders
