Please help: Dwarf pomegranate dropping leaves
Comments (4)Hi Lucy, Thanks for your answer! I don't see how to post a photo - could you tell me how? As of today it's improving - quite a few new buds and leaves, counted at least 16 that bursted out between this morning and midnight - pretty exciting bc it looked dire a few days ago! I've always watered from top - never left soggy. Temperature has been between 72-80 F, maybe a tad more due to faulty ac.. After posting the initial message I added a second platter with water below (under the drainage tray) for humidity - appears it may be helping.. Just checked the bottom of the pot and noticed that there is indeed one root poking out now (wasn't there 6 weeks ago). Should I repot? Or would that be too stressful now? Late March: IMG_0333.JPG August (starting to revive after very sudden leaf drop): IMG_0695.jpg IMG_0696.jpg IMG_0697.jpg...See MorePersimmon Tree has lots of droppings on two leaves...help
Comments (1)The dropping are likely some kind of caterpillar. Look for something to squash or spray. The growth pattern you describe sounds normal for a persimmon, especially a young one. They grow first thing in spring and then often nothing else all summer. Lots of water and fertilizer is the only hope of lots of growth. Pushing lots of growth is OK for a young tree but probably not a bearing tree. You get better fruit on a medium vigor mature tree....See Moremy lemon seedling is dropping leaves. please help!
Comments (6)Absolutley ! Mine have been in and out for the past 3 weeks, way before my Magnolia opened up and it is still just starting to. It was 38 degrees last night which tells you that I still get very cold temps. I would put your tree out at day, and bring it in at night if you know temps are going to be below the 50's at night, until you get your tree acclimated to the outdoors for the next couple of weeks. I would wash all those leaves off, take no chances, since no one can ever be sure you do not have mites excpet you yourself, unless you examine the leaves as I suggested and even then you could miss them. But to me, that is a classic sign of mite damage since I am very familiar with these critters and how they affect my trees, just like yours. Your leaves also look speckled which is another sign. This is what I have learned from my trees over the years. Too much water being held in the soil causes leaves to YELLOW, first symptom, and then drop. It seems to me you are loosing green leaves, no? You can loose green leaves that easily fall taht are fully green and hydrated, NOT DEHYDRATED from the leaf sten, where it meets with leaf and or with the trunk, if your leaves suffered a shock from a lack of water beyond wilt. If the leaves to your tree are slowly loosing firmness, to the point when you bend them and they do not snap, then your roots are not taking up moisture over time and sometimes they will be hard to pull off of trunk. This is due to the inability of your tree to take up moisture either from poor temps, salts in your mix, extremely poor soil, rotted roots and so on. Sucking pests can also cause render citrus leaves not rigid. Poor root function can cause leaf distortion as can pests, extreme change in enviroment, too much fertilizer, too much of a certain nutrient and not enough, ect.. My first form of action would be to put it outside, check for pest and treat as if you have them if you can't, and look at the root zone as suggested my Silica. Good luck and please don't wait..:-) If your branches and trunk are still green, then you have a great chance of keeping those trees alive if you try some of our suggestions here. I have a tree that has been bare since last fall, but still fully alive. Mike...See MoreLime tree losing green leaves & new leaves with yellow spots (pics)
Comments (11)You could try and prune it to a smaller size maybe if you wish to keep it in a smaller pot, my key lime is quite small and it went through several flowering cycles this year. Citrus are heavy feeders so providing enough nutrients is key. I use granular citrus fertilizer on a monthly basis just topdress the soil, and when my plants are fruiting and flowering I use a water soluble fertilizer weekly. They also make water soluble citrus nutrients which can be diluted and sprayed on the leaves. I prefer to apply smaller amounts of nutrients more often. Also I recommend using organic fertilizer, non organic fertilizer will lead to salt build up in the pot. The picture is the kinds of fertilizer I use. In the background you can see some key limes in my fruit basket....See Morefloral_uk z.8/9 SW UK
