My sight is still blurry and my arm is strained !!!
Comments (10)I'm thinking one of those display stands, like the libraries once used to display the huge unabridged dictionaries upon. Cut it down to table top height and equip it with wheels and a large 10-diopter magnifier, with enclosed fluorescent light and I would be all set! My DH is very handy at that sort of thing and he likes to putter in his shop, with all of the woodworking power tools. Maybe, then the only strenuous effort I would have is flipping the pages. Do they have a device for that, too? Kidding aside, it is a handful to wrestle that tome from the bookcase to the coffee table and back again, each time I want to check on a Hosta. It may just wind up as a permanent fixture on the coffee table. I agree about the eyestrain, even though I have megawatts of CFC lighting in my den, I have to limit my reading to a few minutes each time, which is probably a good thing, as my garden needs my undivided attention right now, from daybreak to dusk, as we experienced a very, very long, difficult winter here and cleanup is moving very slowly! Hostas must have enjoyed their long rest, as they are looking good this year, for the first time in several years....See MoreCalling All Windmill Experts...Pics Of My Cooked Windmill
Comments (19)If I had to guess I would say it is to late. Here are a couple pics of mine after last winter-they were cut back almost to the ground. In this 1st pic you can see how pale the spear, etc is- the whole thing pulled out. Here is a pic of it cut back,I didn't think it would make it because of how far down I had to cut to find live tissue. You can cut down(for starters)as far as down as the socket went that pulled-don't worry about hurting the palm at this point,my guess is it has no chance without being cut back. Keep cutting down,if you do not find white tissue before the absolute soil line it's dead. My guess is you will find a cored out center but hopefully you will find some healthy tissue, if you do it won't take long for it to pop up,maybe a week if in a warm sunny place and if the roots are still alive. Anyway, here are some pics of the process from this past season. Another one- and...another 4 days later(in April) Palms recovering-7 weeks later- Here they are(recovered) in fall(Oct 8th)- GOOD LUCK!...See MoreDo you know what causes Eye Floaters
Comments (17)I have not have the laser surgery to eliminate floaters, but I have a feeling it might work. I had 4 floaters that floated across my field of vision for almost 30 years. Last April I was told I needed laser surgery to release pressure in my eyeballs, due to a narrow angle that made it difficult for proper interior drainage. I don't have glaucoma, but this procedure was recommended to prevent glaucoma from developing. The surgeon shot each eyeball at least 6 times with a laser to create microscopic holes to release pressure. I noticed immediately after the surgery that my biggest floater had suddenly disappeared! Although I still have the smaller 3 floaters, the most annoying one vanished and has not returned. So I'm thinking when he was zapping out holes with the laser, he hit it and it disintegrated, or it was at least propelled right out of my field of vision. Obviously I can't vouch for the actual floater surgery, but I can testify that my worst one totally disappeared after being 'zapped' just coincidentally for a completely different reason!...See MoreHow can I allow window light but block out spying eyes?!
Comments (3)I might suggest a wooden shutter that you could keep the bottom closed in our bathroom I usually keep the top completely open and the bottom closed or almost closed so that we get all the light at the top and partial light from the bottom and complete privacy. Or you could put up a heavy sheer that lets in all light but she would only be able to see image at night if your lights were on. Another idea is to call a glass company and have them etch the glass or replace your glass with etched glass....See Moredan1888
