Comments (3)Leaf-footed bug nymphs, a relative of stinkbugs. Yes, the neem oil will help control these nymphs. They are likely to stop feeding, AND the neem also acts as a growth regulator. You'll not see much of a 'knock down' effect from the neem but its effects are more long lasting. The insecticidal soap would probably help control these babies, too. With the neem, be sure to get good coverage of the foliage. The insecticidal soap has to come into direct contact with the pest....See MoreHow to get rid of mealy bugs?
Comments (10)kimmsr, This pest can be quite active in the landscape, it all depends on where you live...as with most pests. A lot is known about them on ornamentals and how to control them, it is probably just not reflected on the sites you visit. charmane 2010, The dimethoate would be over kill, very harsh material. While it is systemic, there are other products that would be much safer for you to use...at least in comparison to that stuff. Look for something with imidacloprid, safer for you (it has issues also). But the easiest and safest overall way to control it is to get rid of the plant, all depends on if you can part with it and start over with a new one. Comments (2)Fire ants make mounds and not holes. The mounds start out small and become larger as the colony population increases. These mounds look rather innocent until you disturb them, and ALL of the ants boil out of the mound all at once. Again, there is never a discernible hole. I never worry about ants in my yard and garden, other than fire ants. Fire ants can be a problem for humans, pets, bird nests, beneficial insect eggs and larvae, and such....See MoreWhat are these bugs and how do I get rid of them?
Comments (3)Well for starters they are beetles. The magnification is way too low for a decent identification, but I'll hazard a guess: Given their size, I'm guessing they are fungal feeding deadwood specialists, such as Cisidae (there isn't a common name to my knowledge). These are not wood borers per se, but feed on fungi growing on deadwood or untreated wood. How to get rid of them ... well, I wouldn't want to unless they are attacking the structure of your premises. You might want to keep them out though (just so they aren't a nuisance and that you don't have to keep cleaning up dead ones that die trying to get back out). First step might be to get finer mesh on your windows ... but then I don't know what grade mesh you have right now....See MoreKara 9b SF Bay Area CA
