I can't find buyers review for ABTCO vinyl siding anywhere...

My husband and I are looking at vinyl siding we need to order soon, but we can't find any homeowner reviews of the ABTCO vinyl siding.

Has anyone used this product? What are your thoughts? Pros? Cons?

We are specifically looking at the white vertical vinyl.

Any feedback on their products would be great!

That's because old home owners prefer the beauty of the original exterior over siding.

If you have a truly old house I would NEVER use vinyl siding.

On a lake, I would think that having the bedrooms upstairs would be more desirable because of the better view. With budget in mind, I'd try to redesign the home to a smaller footprint, with usable bedrooms upstairs, including the master, and the family living spaces below. Of course, that would include a main floor study/office/guest room that had a full handicap accessible bath. But, there is no reason to build such a large home that is outside your budget when building a smaller one will fulfill your needs, and potentially have more appeal for resale whenever that happens. Especially since this is SUCH an expensive home to build, and custom homes generally always go over budget. Starting out over budget isn't a good plan.

+1 to the above two posts. Windows are no different than any other consumer product. The warranty gives protection to the customer, but most certainly will have some limitations to protect the best interest of the manufacturer. That is just the the way it is, as sure as the sky is blue. Regarding the product in question, be careful in researching the Plygem offerings. Most of the info that you'll find across the web is regarding the product that they offer in the eastern and midwest region. Out west, it is completely different. I can't comment on that particular product simply because I'm not familiar with it, but perhaps someone from your region will weigh in on that. There are a couple of Califonia guys floating around here somewhere ;) ... In fact, at the risk of creating a redundant thread, you might create a second one and put California in the subject for a better response.

I had 32 Alside mezzo Windows install. The windows are not bad but the contractors that they have are horrible. You have to be careful because people will say that they are "Alside certified" and will rip out your windows and screw the new ones in sideway then run for the hills... One of those companies Oakland Construction or Orchard 10 is another name they go by also...

Dealing with a similar sutuation. New build with same windows. I was a little surprised when i noticed the exterior mitre joints, as mine are identical. One thing i know for sure is that “damage” you think is from the factory is 100% from the installer. Mine were installed with way more damage. Aside from the major damage, I did have those scuff/scratch type marks all over several of mine as well, the good news is - they literally wipe off with a decent amount of elbow grease. I was happy when I realized it wasnt permanent.

Never say never. My Mom inherited our family's "old house" that was built in 1885 with materials on the land & community in north central South Carolina: pine and handmade bricks & nails. My g-g-g-gf was a brick mason and traded for help to build the house. Each generation has put their stamp on the house: improving the foundation, indoor kitchen, plumbing, electricity, moving walls, additions, etc.

The original wood siding is now beyond repair. They have chosen a vinyl siding with a weathered wood design. It will replace the original wood siding and the "new" addition that's currently a white siding.

Yes, it's a change, but it looks good, maintains the look of the house, and protects the interior of the house for future generations.
