sunrise standard or alside mezzo
Comments (4)Agree 100%. Sunrise all the way, not even in the same class. I like the upgrade to reinforcement, but even without it this is not a fair comparison. See how your neighbors like the alsides in 5-10 years....See MoreDownside of Alside Mezzo or Sheffield?
Comments (3)Only rich people can afford to buy cheap windows. The mezzo frame is flimsy and designed cheaply. The Sheffield is extremely bulky, has a horrible sill design, and looks cheap. After all the negativity you have read regarding alside products, i am taken aback as to your consideration of the product. The soft lite is a much better product as is the sunrise. Fyi, the sunrise will have a slimmer frame than the mezzo and its built MUCH better. I think you already know the answer to your question. Comments (16)Thanks, while I respect the Okna, there are too many issues with the local Okna dealer, first being minim 5 windows and constant price increases and long wait times. We are not in Okna's normal area so they only ship windows when they can fill a trailer. The Vytex dealer has a solid reputation and has been great to work with so while the Okna may be a better window I am not as comfortable dealing with the Okna dealer. Also for my use case AI and good install are my focal points as most of my windows get little of no sun. The Sunrise were way too expensive....See MoreAre ALL Alside Windows Junk?
Comments (6)The problem with Alside: lets start with the Mezzo. The keeper which is the part that the lock engages with is very flimsy and bends rather easily. They also have to glue unightly square fuzz pads all over the corners of the window in order to help prevent air from coming into your home as well as help the air infiltration rating. Without those pads, the air infiltration rating will go up dramatically. The problem with those so called " fuzz pads", not only do they cheapen the look of the windows, they eventually fall off which requires the homeowner to glue the pads back on. You can literally glue pads on the worst window in the world and that will make the air infiltration number look good; but wait til they fall off.... those pads are always a red flag. none of the higher quality vinyl windows need to use those pads. They design and engineer their windows in order to maintain structural integrity and low air infiltration ratings. the sheffield and ultramaxx are so darn bulky i sometimes wonder if they were meant to be installed in prisons. They also use the always undesirable pocket sill or snap in sloped sill. You always want a welded sloped sill with no weep flaps. the alside 8000 series is a decent window. anyone that installs a window for $50 is a nut job and needs to take a class in personal finance. The installation material alone is almost $50 bucks. you could even find a homeless man to install a window for $30. Im sure people have tried that....See MoreUltra Windows
