Please any ideas of good cabinet colors for my kitchen.
Comments (12)Are you keeping the foot print? Are you changing/ripping out anything? Is it JUST the cabinet colours that are being updated? You have multiple posts going about the same concerns but the answers to our questions are limited. You have multiple woods (the wood floor is lovely BTW) with multiple styles of doors/finishes. You need cohesion. It looks like you are struggling with the basics....like what your style is. Here are some hints: Flooring is OFTEN inspired or PAIRED with COUNTER TOPS. Cabinets are often used to contrast the counters (ie. dark counters = light cabinets). Backsplashes are often used to assist the counters to work with the cabinets. An island that is a 'different' colour is used to HIGHLIGHT an expensive upgrade or as a DIVA in the kitchen. It draws attention TO the kitchen...not away from it. Right now you have an entry level granite on the counter tops. You have high-value wood floors. You have wood cabinets that work well (tone on tone) with the floors. You have wooden built-ins that DO NOT work with the floors nor the kitchen (pink/salmon/pickled colour vs. golden brown wood tones). You really need to narrow down WHAT is being done and WHY you want it done. At this point a kitchen designer or a colour consultant would be money well spent. Before hiring someone, please pick up some magazines that have photos of things you LOVE. Cut them out and make a collage. This will help you/the designer figure out what you are 'after'....See MoreNeed ideas for new cabinets, ceilings will be removed & vaulted
Comments (10)can't picture current kitchen or eventual space from glimpses through doorways. also, not sure what you are asking -- how to design the whole kitchen, or how to deal with cabinets on a wall with a sloped ceiling? 1) ignore the slope, and let it just be far above the cabinets 2) fill the extra space with shelves 3) Stagger cabinets but don't fill space to vault 4) pick a height and soffit down to it 5) fill the vault to ceiling with custom cabinets So, the right answer depends a bit on the size of the vault, the style of your kitchen, budget, and personal preference. Hope this helps!...See MorePaint color ideas, painting the cabinets(?), new floor
Comments (0)Hi friends! A few questions for you today. My kitchen/dining/living room is currently Sherwin Williams Liveable Green. We will be painting it a more neutral color. I tend to like warm neutrals. Im having trouble because there is a lot of bright light all day. Below are a few samples of Ben Moore paints. 1. Timeless paint color suggestions? 2. Should i paint the cabinets? If so, what color(s)? 3. All light wood flooring? Or split it, as currently split? Thanks!! Caitie...See MoreAnybody have an idea on this Cabinet Color?
Comments (37)@Nidnay I actually had gotten the large 12x12 real paint sample of wordly gray. I had moved it to the "no" pile because it seemed too dark to me, but I pulled it back out after she emailed. It's definitely a nice color, but I do think it's darker than I want and then there is the whole "it looks pink" in some people's homes. I'm sure those photos that I shared here are filtered. I'm still looking at Agreeable Gray and I really like it, but I don't know if I have the "courage" to do anything other than white, off white for my very expensive kitchen cabinets. It's different with wall paint, as obviously you can just repaint, but with the cabinets, I'm honestly concerned I will have regrets. Truthfully though since I love this other look I feel like I probably will no matter which way I go now:-) I also like Repose Gray:-) Oh and I agree with you about some of those "white" lights. I too had stocked up on incandescent bulbs and still use them in many of my lights. I think the white lights are great for taking "professional" photos etc., but they aren't the cozy look many of us like for a home....See Moreseely
